1:38 The rule is a minimum of 65 games and for the player to log at least 20 minutes in each of those games. So they just cant come in and out of the game to be eligible.

These players care way to much about their stats to do that anyway, which is why Adam Silver needs to take it a step further and give these so called “players” a zero stat line for every game missed.

The rule so far worked great, more stars are playing more games. Yes, it hurt some players, but no rules or laws are perfect, inevitably a small percentage gets the short end. However, many forget the players union works for all players collectively, not just the star players. The Players, like the owners, should and want to put forward the best product possible. When stars don’t play games, fans gets upset, might result in fewer fans wanting pay and go to the games. TV partners, instead of paying billions more for the next broadcast deal, might want a discount instead. Remember, the players gets 50% of the revenue, so the more billions that the fans and TV partners are willing to pay, the more billions the players as a whole will get. It’s why the players union agreed to it, because they look at the whole picture.

It got way out of hand. It's like a "Regular Joe" who doesn't like his job taking every sick day he can whether he's sick or not. But this the NBA. It was supposed to be the dream for these guys. Now that they're there they only look for ways to lay out of work. Old guys at the Y respect the game more than these players. They're screwing up their own meal ticket. How stupid.

Better training, travel, diet, nutrition, science etc. And guys still can't play 65+ games this is nuts. Truthful. Most players play, too many games too young as Matt said, along with not cross training up until at least their sophomore year of HS. If you play basketball you should run track, cross county etc Guys played AAU 3 games in 3 days without issue

The NBA just needs to get rid of supermax qualifiers. The media and awards shouldn't dictate how much an owner is allowed to offer their players. The financial difference of making and not making an all nba team is nearly $40M. If the Pacers owner WANTS to offer Hali $240M+ he should be able to.

Everybody falling for the okie doke. Embiid came out and played because a bunch of the media called him a coward for a week. Embiid hears everything and wanted to play for his pride. The media switched the narrative to avoid apologizing. They made the issue the 65-game rule and never had to apologize for calling Embiid a coward for a week. The 65-game rule is a real issue but the pivot to the topic is fake. They slandered a man for a week and when they found out he was actually hurt no apology came. A narrative about 65 games came instead.

For this conversation to progress they have to have a real conversation with real facts. Nobody ever that played less than 60 games ever won mvp let's start there. Embid gets hurt every year so to use him as the standard is crazy. He's been hot before got hurt so this is nothing new. Lebron the oldest man in the league plays 65 or more most seasons , so these dudes want to have it both ways make absurd amounts of money then say my body my choice I'll play when I want. Everybody is sore from working you just push through.

Look, you are a professional player. If you can play, you play. If you are injured then dont play. So what if you miss out on the incentives. You gotta think big picture. Most of those guys that are making all nba teams or mvps will get a huge contract anyway. You cant be mad at your job for asking you to show up for 80% of your job. They are protecting their product because the system was being abused.

You would get fired in an instant if you don't show up for work 20% of the time. If players don't want to play 82 games due to "load management" (a system that do not work), take a significant pay cut. Most people do not want to go to work as well, it's life, get over it. I love these players whining about 65 games, these new generation are too soft and wants everything on a silver platter. You turn up to work if you are not sick, this is a basic rule that everyone follows beside NBA players. Why would I pay thousand of dollars to watch a star player sit on their a$$? These new generation players are running NBA to the ground.

Stop drafting these idiots at age 19 then. They hate playing 60+ games because they went from under 40 games to more than double that too soon. Although I don’t want teenagers banned - the GMs deserve to be banned, teams may as well draft guys with 70 career pre-NBA games before playing them 70 games in a year.
