I would make some comment along the lines of "why on earth would someone poor vote for Republicans?" but then I realised that if they're stuck in a minimum wage job, and especially if they're there expecting to become a millionaire, then the education system probably failed them. That's why they're voting Republican. After all, Republicans seem to think calling someone "over-educated" is an insult.

Should check out Pro Publica which did a series of stories which shows how the rich are able to hide their wealth legally and avoid taxes. Even if Congress was able to craft laws to tax them, they could never pass such a law because the rich control Congress, in both parties.

I grew up on forward deployed overseas combat infantry division bases. We lived in army owned housing. Since our household goods were shipped by boat and we could only bring a few crates worth, half of our furniture was issued by the quartermaster. We shopped tax free at the army run Army and Air Force Exchange Service post exchange (PX)for clothing and general things, and the commissary for our groceries. We had a swimming pool on base we could use as kids for free. We had a movie theater that charged $1.25 for second run or late first run movies (it was the 70s so off base movies were $8 to $10). My parents were members of the base Officer's Club, and the enlisted personnel had access to the non-commissioned officer's/enlisted club. We even had our own free elementary, middle and high schools. Oh yeah, our base clinic had an emergency room, and there was a massive regional military hospital at the nearby naval base we could go to. If he found out how downright pure socialist life on base was, he'd have a stroke. Heck, if you're actually in the military, as opposed to being a dependent, you get all sorts of fantastic free stuff on top of the stuff I listed.

oh, i think gaetz had a point. clearly if we'd spent the couple of million dollars from teaching wokeism or crt or trans or whatever on more analysis of russia, we would have known their military was a house of cards. sure, everybody in the world thought it was a lot stronger than it was, but just a few extra dollars would have enabled the military- not the cia,the nsa, or any other intelligence agency, just the military, to see that russia would fail. and ofc, that would have massively changed our strategy int his war not one single bit. but we would have KNOWN. and re,ember folks, it's never a good idea to overestimate your enemy's capabilities. you always want to err on the side of underestimation. but no, we had to teach ppl in the military that racism still exists instead.

I'd say a big reason our assessments were wrong is because people thought Russia's military was more competent and capable then it is. We also thought Ukraine's forces were much weaker as well.
