Heilung is not just a band - they dive into this spiritual world, for this reason they also make all the instruments themselves, from the materials that people had at their disposal at that time - including human bones, for example. I experienced Heilung for the first time in 2018 in Wacken (biggest metal open air in the world) and was caught up in these sounds from the first note. What surprised me is that I haven't found a reaction to the best symphonic metal band Nightwish yet. That's why I would like to recommend the song 'Ghost Love Score' from the 2013 concert in Wacken from Nightwish. You can experience the metal Mozart and the goddess of metal. They will blow you out of your shoes with their skill!

I have heard a few songs by Nightwish and would like to look into them further. I did hear Ghost love score and romanticize. I would like to hear some stuff from the early years with the original singer, but not sure where to start. Thank you for your support and suggestions

They call their music "amplified history" and the members are German (wrote a poem), Danish (asked by the German to help him with adding music to the poem) and Norwegian (asked by the guys for a few samples of her voice, they used all she had recorded, turning her into a member). The name of the group means "healing" in German, btw.

Okay a better description: The German Guy is called Kai, he is a German tattooist who lives in Copenhagen, Denmark, he specialises in Norse Tattoos, and also writes poetry specifically based on the Runes, Norse mythology, Germanic Bronze Age Ideology and Paganism. One day the Danish Guy, Chris who is a music producer, recording artist, visited his tattoo studio and fell in love with Kai’s tattooing skills, so Kai asked him if he gave him cut price tattoos, could he get time in his studio. Whilst at the studio, and Kai was throat singing his poems, Maria (the Norwegian) who is also Chris’s girlfriend) asked what was going on, and began singing the poems too, thus Heilung was born..

Heilung means "Healing" in Old Norse which is the language used in their lyrics. The three leads in Heilung are from Denmark, Germany and Norway. Heilung is indeed considered a METAL band! "Folk Metal' genre. Heilung tours regularly. Heilung performs as a main attraction at Metal Festivals in Europe. You should react to Heilung LIFA Krigsgeldr which is a live video. Then you will see why Heilung IS Metal! :) I am a big fan of Heilung. Their live concerts are not just performances or concerts! The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfil wishes or for divination. The bracteates feature a very significant iconography influenced by Roman coinage. They were predominantly made from Roman gold, which was given to the North Germanic peoples as peace money In Anoana, the listener has the chance to delve into a collection of likely encoded spells from the Migration Period and get a touch of magic from the Dark Ages. The intention of the piece is to playfully reconnect to an incantational language of a period where the North was richer in gold than any other region. Our forefathers presumably enjoyed a time of great prosperity and it may make us rethink how dark these ages really were. This is from the video description for the song 🎵

Hi man! I'm watching the reaction, while I am writing. You had the right feeling. This is actually a dead language the vikings spoke a few years ago. 😉 The band is actually from denmark, norway and germany. It's called nordic ritual folk music. When I first heard this song last year, I was going for a walk in the evening, while sunset and had downloaded it, without ever listening to it before. It was magical, when it started to play. Somehow you get a feeling of being in touch with nature again. Made sense, when I saw the video later. Now i finished dinner and saw your whole reaction . You pronounced their name right. Healing is the english translation of Heilung. They always do this kind of music. Haven't found out yet, where the video was shot, but I am pretty sure it was a scandinavian country. The instruments they play are build like original instruments of this area, they sometimes even use human bones. You could see it in their live videod, for example, "Heilung | Lifa - Krigsgaldr - Live" They sing in english in this one aswell. At least some parts. Krigsgaldr translates to something like "roar of war" in english. We have a tradition called Sonnwendfeuer(midsummer fire) here in germany, or at least in bavaria, not quite sure. So if that's enough a fire-tradition, to be a part of, feel free to visit me next year. Somewhere between mid june and end of june. I haven't been to one those for a long time, and I believe nowadays it's mostly another excuse, to drink lots of beer on one more night in the year... 😅 But anyways, gonna be fun time... 🤷🏼‍♂️ Thanks for the reaction! Appreciate it! ✌🏻

Heilung means healing, they perform in a very ritual way live and the songs are partly taken from translations of some Norse and Northern Germanic runes, they are really a living history group taking a lot of the ritual known to have been performed back in ages long past, I am a member of a Celtic Pagan philosophy which is basically what this is based around, I have worked on translations of some hidden writings from the early Christian times when Druids converted to Christian monks, they learned to write in Latin but used it to write some of the Celtic history in Anglo Saxon and Norse using the same characters as Latin, The real tradition before this time was mostly oral with people training for years to learn the old stories accurately and they travelled from village to village and told the old stories which were their history. Heilung has members who have spent many years doing similar study to myself and produced these beautiful story songs which are far more spiritual than anything offered by the modern world

Hallo Matt! Shortly after the beginning of the video a solar eclipse can be seen, later a second one. According to the beliefs of ancient northern European peoples, such as the Germanic tribes, people born during a solar eclipse receive special abilities from Mother Nature (Ano Ana). They can control time, animals and death and become shamans like the girl here. The musk ox could be her totem or that of her tribe. I suspect that after the second eclipse she gave him back her gift from Ano Ana. maybe a new shaman was born

I'm going to try and simplify what others have said as the comments seems to be in snippets. I'm not dissing or snubbing anyone who wrote anything in the comments. It will be in 2 parts because I have a lot to say. After reading this, well, I hope you read it, go back and watch the video again. This video is a masterpiece in all ways. It is masterclass in the way to invoke feeling inside someone and give someone an experience in music, singing and imagery. The best way to describe Heilung, I think, is performative linguistic and cultural archaeology. Anoana is a divination and/or a prophecy from proto-Nordic and Celtic mythology and also an early norse god, the mother of all. She is the guardian; protector of the land and nature with everything that lives in it. Ana is the mother of all Celtic and Nordic gods. At the end of the video she becomes one with nature and melds with her spirit animal (a Muskox). Anoana was a powerful shaman who was born under the sign of the eclipse and possessed 'magical' powers. Even as a child, she sought her guardian spirit in the animal world, which she finally found in the Muskox. She met him again as an adult and reunited with him through this collision. The baby is the girl who as also grown to be the woman. The language is proto-norse. The language that the people living in scandinavia and northern Europe including Germany and the Baltics during the migration period spoke in. Pre-viking era. Much of their music is inspired by pre viking northern germanic writings and artifacts. They make most of their instruments themselves and their outfits as well which are partly based on the "spiritual traditions of the Eurasian circumpolar peoples", or are historically correct reproductions of Nordic Bronze Age clothing. Maria's dress is early viking and her headdress is Siberian. The men sing normally and also with "throat singing". Throat singing is done all around the world, in places. Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia, Russia, Siberia, a part of Japan and China, Southwest Asia and Canadian Inuit Eskimos. That's just to name a few. From the band. "The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfil wishes or for divination. The bracteates feature a very significant iconography influenced by Roman coinage. They were predominantly made from Roman gold, which was given to the North Germanic peoples as peace money. In Anoana, the listener has the chance to delve into a collection of likely encoded spells from the Migration Period and get a touch of magic from the Dark Ages. The intention of the piece is to playfully reconnect to an incantational language of a period where the North was richer in gold than any other region" They are singing in a reconstructed version of pre-viking proto-norse. Maria plays a Shaman/priestess. Pay good attention to the official music video. It is full of imagery and symbolism in the telling of the story. The following are things you need to notice: Throughout the video, the young girl is melding with nature. Bugs, a hawk or eagle, a moose, a drop of water from a leaf. Notice the elcipse of the sun. It is shown twice in the video at the beginning and towards the end when they're dancing around the bon fire. A child is born under this eclipse. According to previking beliefs children born under eclipses had very special gifts: hamnskifte (the ability to change appearance), age shift, talking to animals, healing (ex; of a bird) and others. Notice the baby is born with antler nubs, or as we Yanks call them, buttons. (Maria's voice, the sound she is making on the beach is similar to kulning (pronounced Kool-ning) and is an old Scandinavian style still used by farmwives to call home their cattle from the fields.) Notice after the birth, the mother looks up into the conical ceiling of the hut. She is afraid for her baby because she knows and what gift could be given to the baby. Notice the Shaman takes a small pice of a mushroom. Notice the young girl sees a moose and challenges him by shaking her head at him. It is not yet time or the right animal. The girl, in a flashback, finds a muskox. Muskox are not native to Scandinavia or Europe. What this must have been was a Aurochs. Muskox or Aurochs are not conducive to human life span, if you know what I mean. Yet she is close and pets him. Then she climbs on the muskox and falls asleep. She has found the one, yet the time is not right. Notice the woman on the cliff overlooking the sea, grown, is chanting and turns her head to her right. She sees the muskox and recognizing that it IS time. She melds with the Muskox. Such is my interpretation. Maria Franz gave an interview recently and said this is not the end of the story for Anoana, so stay tuned! More to come! I have seen this video over 100 times and it STILL evokes a tear or two and goosebumps and even perhaps a yearning of simpler times. I have never been affected by music and imagery in this way.

@@MattsMoshPit1 Well...ummm...first, I thank you. I have never gotten a reply from a reactor that sounded so...sincere. There is much music out there that moves me. Movie music or parts of a sound track, Classical, Rock/heavy metal (Metallica's "One"" for example and Megadeth's "A tout la Monde" for another. Massed bagpipes. Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese ancient folk music. And others. But Heilung is somehow different to me. Their music is...primal...gutteral...and....intimate. They sing of the way proto-norse and pre-Vikings saw their world. I imagine just like any other ancient folk sang as they saw their world as well. Like I said above, The best way to describe Heilung, I think, is performative linguistic and cultural archaeology. Archaeology or archeology is the study of human activity through the recovery and analysis of material culture. I think Heilung does this excellently. To listen to these songs, you really should disassociate or divorce yourself from 2023 and move yourself back 2200 to 1700 years ago when the Nature Gods lived and with those Germanic, Baltic and Scandinavian (and Celts) peoples that believed in them. I find this band's music quite captivating and ritualistic. Not so much as a meditative music but quite beautiful in a primitive, primal way. Simply think to yourself that our ancestors were doing something like this a couple thousand years ago...that is until Christianity sadly came and wiped them out.
