Matt Rhule was recently quoted, talking about the significant jump he expects Nebraska to make this year! Adam explains why he may or may not, agree with the Huskers head coach. As always, Adam has facts to back up his opinion, along with his typical entertaining personality. With Nebraska's Spring Game coming up on Saturday, this is a can't miss show for Husker fans!

I will not be disappointed in the team failing to make a significant jump. I expect that the team fails again to once again make a bowl game. Will I be pleased if they go 8-4, or do better? I would. I just have given up on the team. It will take a few seasons for me to start drinking the NU KOOLAID again. If we had Casey Thompson under center, instead of Jeff Simms, maybe Nebraska could have won those two first games. If Coach Rhule puts in a true freshman as starting QB, I expect NU to lose. Jeff Simms performed well in practice, yet when it came to playing an actual game, he folded like a cheap tent. What did he have, like 8 turnovers in the two games combined? Then Chubba took over and we started winning. I expect the same thing from DR, that we got from Jeff Simms. Crappy QB play, As long as the O-line is better this year, than it has been in the past. Nebraska should do well. However, unless the O-line coach's nephew is going to be the starting QB, I doubt that the O-line play will be any different. I doubt anything will change. I hope it does, but I can crap in one hand and hope in the other, yet one hand is going to be filled up faster than the other. Just my two cents.

I'd be disappointed if we don't win eight with the schedule we have. 65 to 70k at the spring game. We're supposed to have violent weather in Oklahoma Saturday, so out of curiosity I checked the forecast for Lincoln. No problem 😊

A winning season is a big jump. I Really love Matt Rhule I think his is our guy to get us back in it. Year 3, if what you say that his teams were even better. I will take it. Coach Rhule has a vision, I would love it if we kept for 30 years! Go big red!

I think they will make significant jump in year 2. One reason is they're not starting with a conference game that's going to make a big difference. Also, they have a very winnable non conference schedule which should give them a lot confidence going into conference play. Matt Rhule knows that if they cut the turnovers in half they know that it very reachable to go bowling. I think with that defense taking another step towards the top 10 defense in the country would not be surprised if they are contention for conference title. I didn't say win I said in contention. GO BIG RED!

Referees often favor the original conference teams, and Penn State to a lesser degree. Notably so and proven.

Last year’s spring game was just over 66,000; I'm pretty sure that both ‘21 & ‘22 still had limits on attendance due to Covid; 2019 was almost 86,000. With all the hype for Dylan Raiola, I wouldn't be surprised if we approach that 2019 figure. BTW, my mom & brother will be there!

I believe they should be 8-4 or 9-3. If a coach is caught tampering, he should not be allowed to sign the player of which he is accused of contacting. I think we’re looking at between 65 and 70,000 at the spring game

My guess is 8 or 9 wins this season if if if. The offensive line play improving dramatically mandatory. The defence has to match last year or improve. Holding on to the ball limiting any negative possession changes to one-ish average per game. If the Huskers do those 3 things I only see 3 +/- 1 losses happening. Ohio State looks loaded, Wisconsin is improving a lot, USC is an underachiever but dangerous, and Iowa is a mystery to me. I'm liking what Matt Rhule is creating in Lincoln. 6 - 6 I'm okay with. 7 - 5 I'm seeing improvement but... 8 - 4 I'm pleased with. 9 - 3 is a wow, nice! 10 - 2 is a holy smokes, this is great. 11 - 1 is a huge surprise because it came a year early. 12 - 0 is where a Nebraska fan's heart will heal. I think they can make a significant jump. They're not going to be with OSU, Michigan, Oregon, maybe Penn State, but I think they could jump ahead of Wisconsin and Iowa. To compete with the top teams they will need to recruit NFL caliber players. They need to get some players who could be NFL 1st and second round picks, at least 2 or 3. That takes awhile.

8-4 is exactly what I’ve imagined the Huskers would manage this year. Adam correctly connected improved QB play with the turnovers. Turnovers have killed this team, again and again. I was frankly surprised Coach Rhule and the staff didn’t improve on that last season. I look for that TO margin improvement alone to get this team to 8 wins; which obviously means that improvement in other aspects would make 9 or 10 wins within their grasp. Coaches who tamper with another team’s players should lose a year of bowl eligibility for every tampering incident.

7-5 is worst expectations, I’d say 9-3! Get rid of turnovers will see great improvement. Hill & Hill laying down the law at corner. At least 72K at spring game maybe 80K but 76K sounds good. GBR! TTB

The lack of turnover in the roster is a key indicator in my mind. Players want to come back, that will be what makes a significant jump.

IMO this is our year to make a big mark. The defense should be very good and the offence can't be worse. Im OK with a six win team but im hoping for an eight win team. If our qbs turn the ball over a total or less than 13, as a collective, i could see us winning a possible 10 games.

I am also going to the Spring Game. We absolutely need to stop turning the ball over. When I was at the Maryland game and we were all the way down the field on the 10 yard line with a possible go-ahead score. What happened? You guessed it, we fumbled the ball and lost. Whoever the starting QB is, I have a message, "Please, please! For the love of Husker football, protect that ball!).

Holding on to the ball will be the BIGGEST way to reduce turnovers! Being Without frost is the best way to win close games so they will definitely do better again this year!

I think to get these young QB's true speed of the game we should put them under the true #1 defense..I think our defense will be at the top this year. Get these guys a true feel. Just give them a taste

I think it’s very possible we’ll be 7-5; it’s important to make a bowl to help with additional practices. I’ll be at the Spring game and predict about 60K in attendance.

Bare Minimum 7 wins, 8 or 9 certainly possible, especially if starting at 7-0 or 6-1. Don't just get the bowl game; *WIN* IT!! WIN THE BOWL GAME for momentum - then WATCH OUT for the BIG RED in 2025! Season can't get here fast enough! "Transfer Portal Tampering" needs to be penalized but the logistics of proving it (?) and then deciding the penalty? I don't know. I'm in SoCal but if I lived within a few hours drive, I'd be there. I am very excited for this season (though I have been crushed as we all have since Coach Solich & Coach Pelini) . Therefore, if my excitement level is like other Husker fans, I would like to see a completely full stadium. What is that. 90k? Let's win the Spring Game attendance battle and confirm Coach Rhule's statement that, we, indeed, are the nation's best fan base!

I think Tommie Hill’s mental side caught up late last year. My personal depth chart shows 9 seniors and 2 juniors on defense. Based on last year, they should be quite good. We are finally old on the offensive line. If the quarterbacking is competent, 9-3 looks likely to me. Spring game attendance: 65,000.

Seriously! We haven’t made a bowl game in 8 years while being in the Big Ten West… After what we saw last year with that offense, we should press the breaks a bit. And yes I’m aware Satterfield has a Co-OC but as long as that man has a hand in our offense, we need to temper expectations.

I was just ranting about the fanbases high expectations yet we haven’t been bowling in 8 years while playing in the worst division in CFB. I was trying to add on to your initial comment that we need to lower our expectations bc we’ve set them so high for so long, yet we’ve severely underperformed.

I've said it before When Matt Rhule says NEBRASKA is the perfect place for him and his family.....we know he means what he says. His wife is not going to open a business only to have to give it up and move later....He is the exact right man at the exact right time and as tough as it might be for some....we owe a lot to Trev Albert's for getting this hire done....We are going to see Nebraska return to it's rightful place no matter if we go bowling at 6-6 or set the college football world on its ear with a amazing record of say 9 wins....it won't be very long at the rate he is turning things around and 5-7 seasons will be nothing more than a distant bad memory and I firmly believe that.

Huskers need to take advantage of the early part of their schedule and try to win as many of those first 7 games as they possibly can, then try and improve enough during that stretch to win a few of the final 5. Team is talented enough to win most of their games (like 9-3). If there's no bowl game this year, they should just disband the football team and replace it with competitive Hungry Hungry Hippo.

Questions: Do we make a big jump - YES no reason it can't happen Tampering - use every deterrent in the book to nip this cheating habit in the bud Attendance at the spring game - I'm going for 20k I really like the ration of experience to nebees in all areas. Glad we kept experience at the QB position. Raiola is good but hasn't played at the college level so that will take time. Hopefully not a long time GBR

Yes, significant jump if you think getting to seven to eight wins is significant. The school should be penalized for tampering. That would make the coaches AD put the pressure on to be sure they follow the rules. Attendance at spring game-65k. GBR!

What does "significant jump" mean? Win more games? Dont shoot ourselves in the foot, i.e. fumbling, intercepting? Lots of penalties? Coach Ruhle has repeatedly brought up the issues that cost us games last year. I am reluctantly hopeful. I really like Coach Ruhle but padt history causes me to not trust yet. GBR!

I would believe a positive comment by the coach if there were consequences for the coach and his staff clearly made before the season starts and clearly followed thru with at the end of the season. To me its wait and see. He needs to PROVE it on the field where it matters. And he needs to throw out that 335 that will not win an NC or come close to doing so. And he would need to have three more wins than last season to be a significant jump. Otherwise let him play out his contract and unless he wins us an NC he does not get any extensions or renewals.
