Of all music, I love Apocalyptica the most. Been a fan since I was in elementary school. This song is awesome, the main riff and the chorus have been living rent free in my head since it came out. And Elize is a great choice for singing it. I'm very excited for the new music they've been working on! They do not use guitars in their music, what you are hearing is all distorted cellos, and their use of it has definitely changed throughout their career, I think it's still pretty special.

Thank you for explaining the guitars I was hearing. I feel better about it knowing that. I didn’t want them to lose what was special.

@@MattsMoshPit1 no worries, I am always ready to nerd out about them. They do have some songs with extra bass guitar, but it's mixed very subtly. Some songs have extra programming and synth, but not in an overpowering way imho. And I think that including a drummer was a brilliant decision, love it when Mikko goes insane on the drums. Their music and the way they perform it has always been special, no matter where it's been stylistically. You might like their song with Joakim Broden, "Live or Die", or check out the latest live performances of "Bittersweet" that they uploaded last month, it's all instrumental and has a cool Easter egg in there.

I am absolutely going to check out both of your suggestions. Thank you.

The distortion is a combination of effects pedals, different amps, and studio engineering. There is is some subtle use of guitar in some studio recordings but probably to augment some sounds.

Apocalyptica has plenty of songs that showcase the sound of the cello, even on heavy riffs. The album Cell-0 is an exqmple of that. The entire album is amazing, but Catharsis and Rise are great examples.

As a big fan of Elize i'm always happy to see her as beeing the only singer in a good song, and this one is fantastic 🥰 Btw.: i still wonder what this is, has she learned to whistle ? : DragonForce - Doomsday Party ft. Elize Ryd, Amaranthe kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aK2TnqijsarSZIE.html the song is maybe a bit weird with the disco stuff but damn, Elizes part at the end (slow bridge at 4 minutes) is just killer.

@@MattsMoshPit1 Some more Elize stuff : Elize Ryd & Timo Tolkki´s Avalon - I'll Sing You Home kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r7l3m8x635-We2g.html Timo Tolkki's Avalon ft. Elize Ryd - "Enshrined In My Memory" (Official Video) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b56dd5uZ27Gvo6M.html and finally a very funny video Can AMARANTHE Elize Ryd Sing DRAGONFORCE? - Herman Li & Sam Totman Asked kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ip16dL2H3LeRZZs.html especially the part with Elizes mom and the d.ick pics is soo funny 😄😄 I also still wonder what would have happened with Nightwish if Tuomas had chosen her over Anette. For me she was clearly a way better pick, but at that time Tuomas thought she was too young 😥

I saw them back in March when they were touring with Epica. Great musicians, but not really my thing even though I like hearing cellos in other songs in general. Some of their songs are cool, mostly the ones with guest vocalists like Cristina from Lacuna Coil or Simone as I already mentioned Epica. Especially the live performance with Simone was wonderful. But after a while, it just gets a bit repetitive and... just too much for me. I'm okay with 1-2 songs once in a while but that's it. Aaaand... I have a new recommendation featuring Elize. Beyond The Black have just dropped a live video of Wounded Healer feat. Elize. One of my favourite tracks from them. You need to check it out.
