scenario: it's late at night and your heart feels so heavy and you're crying the whole night so for you to get back up again you decided to walk in the streets going nowhere. you found an empty convenience store. the cashier's eyes are tired too and casually sitting on the counter waiting for the store to close. you walk to the isle of cigarettes and liquor. you bought some of it. you went outside and smoke some of the cigs and you're staring at an empty streets crying while smoking. you feel lost but at least you have the night all to yourself. you finished some cigarettes and stepped on it then went home. it's a long and tiring night but somehow you feel okay. you feel relieved. you're broken into pieces and people hurt you so many times but atleast the night is gentle and kind to you and that's what matters the most.

This feels like coming home from a shitty prom. You stayed at your table while everyone around you was dancing with someone and you'd just sit and stare. You hope for someone to show up, hold out their hand and dance with you. But no one did and as the song slowly dies down a tear escapes from your eye. You go home, wipe all your makeup off and wish you could take the entire day back and go to sleep wishing this never happened. You wake up and stare as the light enters from your window but you have no will to get up at all. You spend the entire day in a state of melancholy that you wish you could just just sleep it off or shower it off but it just won't leave. yes, this exactly happened to me on my senior year prom.

I'm sorry this happened, I've been there more than once and it's horrible. What I've learned from this is not to place my happiness on the existence of someone else, go and dance on my own! This song was like on repeat 24/7 when I was crushing on my best friend. Like no song could encapsulate the intensity of my affection for her and the torment of knowing that we would never work out (because she was loved by another one already) than this song to be honest. I yearned to be something that belong to her, to be a part of her that could stay with her a bit longer than our temporary high school friendship. I wanted to kiss every part of her body and soul, begging her to let me love her with all of my entirety. “I was just the me to your you”- is exactly my deepest desire, to worship her and be a fragment of her identity that could somehow bring her happiness. I would take my heart out for her and I will do it before she even asks.

My boyfriend got sent away, and anyways he’s been there for almost 6 months and the night after he tried to kill himself we were calling on a hospital phone and he told me to play this song and really listen to the lyrics. He tells me “I’m speaking to you in this song”. Now I listen to this song every night…please don’t take loved ones for granted and make sure you listen and are there for them :)

this was the song i would listen to when my friends hurt me but also made me happy. later on i’ve realized they caused too much pain so i finally had the strength to end the friendship. i started to become a better person and make more friends and i just felt lighter in general. it’s crazy how much a song can change your life for the better.

Matt Maltese’s songs pluck the strings of romantic memory. Just this time, the memories are of bittersweet feelings and emotions. All of lost loves and I am kind of irked that my words cannot do the songs justice. There is something powerful about love and hurt that his songs managed to touch upon. Even the minutiae of forlorn love his songs tend to represent. It goes to the soul to survey its deepest wounds, and wounds up being disappointed that love is still the biggest culprit. And the songs translate that. FARK. It picks and maximizes any little thread of limerence, memory, and forlorn love. It makes an indescribable feeling, describable for 3 minutes and a whole album. The lyrics might not make sense without context and they're surely humourous but man do they pack a punch.
