I was raised into Christianity, grew to love For Today. I fell out of faith, did whatever I wanted all the time. I viewed Christ and anyone preaching his gospel as the “enemy”. Having come back to faith in recent history, it is stronger than it ever could’ve been before, because I’ve seen what life is when you just let go and don’t try to live by God. At first, it’s glorious, or so you THINK, but it DOES turn to a nightmare in the end, inevitably. Mattie Montgomery is so right in this. The door is NEVER CLOSED on you! I HATED Christianity more than anything for YEARS, and now it’s been gradually mending my soul and my life. Words fall short to describe the magnitude of change that you will feel in time. Think I’m gonna put on “Breaker” or “Portraits” now. Thankful to God this band existed when they did, they definitely helped a lot of people. 🙏🏻 Also, if you’re reading this, and you are out of faith, I get it. Dude, I was on heroin(etc) for 11 years, and I was nowhere near interested in worshiping God, but when he decided the time was right, He pulled me out of that darkness kicking and screaming and fighting tooth and nail because I didn't want Him! In my case, grace was irresistible and I was unconditionally elected. I hated God and He loved me. While I was yet a sinner, Christ died for me. And I was dead in my trespasses and completely unable to reach out or grab anything, having no desire to repent and believe the gospel. It was God who reached down and pulled me out, even against the will of my wicked degenerate heart. "...He has punished me severely, but He did not give me over to death..." Psalm 118 By the way... The Lord despises wicked people. Psalm 5 and Psalm 11 say so directly, and the imprecatory Psalms all have an indication of this righteous hatred towards evil people. Mattie was spot on when he said that he was not out there talking to every single person, because the spirit of God, as Jesus says when talking to Nicodemus in John 3, blows about like the wind, going wherever it is that He pleases, making specific intervention in specific individuals that He Himself has chosen, even long before He created the Earth or anything in it. Consider the parable of the lost coin, in which the Lost coin is a picture of that guy, Daniel the Satanist who is now our brother in the Lord. The old woman in the parable didn't find extra coins or buttons or trinkets and brush them up and say to herself, "they can be of some value as well!" No, she didn't stop until she found the coin she was looking for, and then she rejoiced with her neighbors and Friends for finding what she had lost that was so precious. I'm not trying to start a debate but I want to point out the magnificent specificity in the plan of redemption for us His sovereignly chosen people, true Israel. It's true, and it's just like Larry the cucumber always says at the end of every VeggieTales episode : "God made you special, and He loves you very much!" Remember what the Spirit says in Exodus... "I will have mercy upon whom I will have mercy, and I will show Grace to whom I will show Grace."
