What I don't understand is, why you would want the drive shafts engaged without driving the wheels. If you put the transfer case in 4WD, surely you would want the front wheels to run. So, why would you need to be able to unlock the hubs?
@billbillinger2491
@billbillinger2491 14 күн бұрын

@@billbillinger2491 I'm still a little confused. I had always understood that the reason for freewheel hubs was exactly that but the reason for doing it was to improve efficiency / use less fuel and reduce wear on long on road runs in 2WD. But these vehicles don't do long on road trips, they are trailered / trucked to where they are needed if it is a long distance from base and spend a lot of time in 4WD, so why is it worthwhile to have freewheel hubs?

The drone issue is definitely from the 2 identical mufflers. You can't use 2 of the same ones in a system because they will cause a drone issue. You need to use just 1 or 2 different ones. I learned that myself when I started building exhausts. You also want the one with more restriction up front as well. If you don't do that, you can get resonance in the exhaust and that can cause some really bad droning as well. And for Katelynn, when you drive a vehicle without power steering, you want to turn the wheel when the vehicle is moving. That makes it's much easier to turn the wheel as opposed to turning the wheel when the vehicle is not moving.

should really make that spud truck into a custom rollback!! a very long rollback to be exact.. so that you guys can haul the heavy wrecker and the banana/morvair at the same time to go out on recoveries! wouldnt it be cool? Haha

Matt, look into Cubitron sanding disks(made by 3m).. 36 grit, they may even make rougher grits.. They are a godsend for material removal. The backing plates that're made for them can explode if you catch an edge, so just use a 1/8" grinding disk under it, TRUST ME... if you haven't used them yet... you'll love them. Jman Pipefitter here.. Beveling pipe has been made so much easier with these disks. =)

Being a flat lander from Nebraska rock crawling is crazy to me but then again we mud bog our 4x4's for fun which probably seems strange to most lol but we both love to use our 4x4's for a lot of fun as well as work trucks. Good to see Ed and Peanut as well as the rest of you of course.

All you had to do to fix the exhaust drone. 1. Take a 1.5" id pipe 10in long with a tight 90°bend at one, and a cap at the other. 2. Cut a 1in hole before muffler. 3. Weld pipe on pointing backwards. 4. High temp paint to stop the rust.
