Oh Derrick you were so slow
we put potatoes where they shouldn’t go
Oh Derrick
you weren’t for show
with flames out your hole
we sold your soul
Oh Derrick
you made our day
you had everyone drippin’
but not in a good way
Oh Derrick
You’re in a better place now
With celica and Yaris
Camry, Echo and Torago
Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.

Reminds me of when my friends girlfriend said she wanted to change her oil by herself and she bought ten pints of oil and asked if this would do, we looked at each other and laughed until we couldn't talk. We thought she would get that it didn't take the ten quarts but 4, she's stubborn, after we got home we played video games and noticed she disappeared, so we go outside to find her trying to start her car, it sounded horrible and we asked what she did, and she said she put the oil in and we both looked at her and asked "all ten"?, and with a huge smile she said yes. We asked her why she didn't put 4 like we said and why she thought it was a good idea to put 10, and she said, shit you not, she said "because we didn't make sense because 10 was better than 4". Yes. Because 10 is better than 4. They are no longer together.

I took the oilpan of my 1964 Chevy Pickup with a 250CI straight six, and had the engine mounts propped up on 4" x 4" blocks. My dad was drunk and drove it to the corner store and back. Luckily, I had the pan off so checking the main bearings was easy. There was surprisingly no damage...

I knew a woman who bought a nice, new Audi last spring and really enjoyed it all summer. then, in the fall, it suddenly had a catastrophic failure and refused to start or run. one of the first questions the mechanic asked her was "when was the last time you changed the oil?" her response was simply, "you have to change the oil?" edit - I just want to reiterate for the people that think, for some reason, I would post a pure lie just for the fun of tricking a bunch of people I'll never meet. this is not a friend of a friend story. I know this woman personally. as I mentioned in a few replies, I may have the dates of the car's purchase wrong, I don't pay attention to every time one of my mother's friends buys a car. but, yes. she never changed the oil and the car died as a result.

@Indosarnia - I can, in fact, swear to you it is not bullshit. it happened. this is a person I know. I may have the purchase date wrong and or in what month it broke down, but I know a woman who ruined her car because she never got her oil changed.
@PKVFan
@PKVFan 6 жыл бұрын
NewGold here is why your story is a LIE. A. Audi has 10,000 Miles intervals , you are telling me she put 10,000 miles on her car in a less than 6 months? You also are claiming that the car would not start or run via not changing the oil. Again people must be stupid to believe you. That synthetic in the car wont break down for years she could have driven that audi two years without changing the oil and never had a catastrophic failure. My VW and Mercedes both get their oil changed once a year, the Mercedes every two since we hardly drive it. My older, but not too old Jaguar went 15k without its oil service. We traded that in on a Volvo which we then traded fro the Mercedes. So yea, your story is a big fat fucking lie.

PKVFan - well, as much as I appreciate your logic and reasoning. I'll say this one more time: I KNOW THE WOMAN. she is one of my mother's good friends. as I mentioned in the reply above, I may have the dates of the car's purchase and demise completely wrong. I obviously don't pay attention every time one of my mom's friends buys a car, but I sure as fuck know what happened to it.

this hurt my brain, its gotta be a joke. you know that the the only difference between those two grades is that the 0w20 will be the slightest bit thinner at cold temperature. like once the car is warmed up both oils will be pretty much identical. "much" faster acceleration would be placebo. and i'm pretty sure mixing oils isn't the smartest idea but you seem to know exactly what you're doing.

This hurts to watch but not as much as some of the stuff I've seen at the auctions as a used car dealer. Worst I've seen was a 2010 Jeep Cherokee that had one service in 130,000km. I looked at the oil and it looked like literal poo, or vegemite. Funnily enough not the first Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge product I've seen with piss poor maintenance, all but one that I came across had sludge and big end knocks because of it. It was that day I realized that the cars themselves weren't that unreliable, but it was the owners that were absolutely disabled and blamed the manufacturer.

I was backpacking in oz. and I was in a Nissan pintara and I had 2 litters off oil to get me from Newcastle to Ingleburn NSW and I made it to my destination. Had my foot all the way to the floor with the accelerator pedal. The car went to the scrapper next day. Turned the ignition and the engine was rocking like anything. Was a fun and worring at the time when I had no oil left in the pintara.

I used to work in a shop that fixed up old medical equipment including wheelchairs, walkers, and mobility scooters. One day we get in a repair order for a motorized wheelchair that didn't work anymore. We checked the thing out, finding that one of the motors was showing signs of wear, but nothing that could totally immobilize it. Then we decided to check the brushes (Brushes are small things that look like springs with graphite in them that make simple electric motors turn). Rick opened the one... and a liquid resembling oil poured onto the shop floor. Checked the other side, same deal. Both sides, filled to the brim. Brushes are supposed to be kept 100% dry as you can imagine, so Rick called the moron who sent this in and said "Well, the motors are full of oil, which they shouldn't be. Do you know how this happened?" This guy's response was priceless. I was on lunch break at the time, and suddenly the entire shop was drowned out by uproarious laughter coming from the repair bench. I come running to see what happened, Rick being the kind of guy to laugh if he broke his arm, and he's sitting on the workbench with the phone in his hand. I ask what happened, and he says to me: "this guy... I accused him of putting oil in the brushes and he got all defensive! He argued that it wasn't oil, it was WD-40!" He honestly thought that would help his case, saying he'd put in a penetrating lubricant rather than actual oil, in a case where ANY liquid is wrong! If you read this far, I hope you liked my recounting of events. I could not make this up if I wanted to.

James Yea, someone did do it and it was a glorious thread about it. There was a decent amount of information to support the fact that it was indeed real what had happened. It's a fairly lengthy thread too. Tom Not surprised it needed a new engine. unlike hydro-lock, it's just in the cylinder. When you put water in the block however, that'll screw with the important internals and those needs lubrication, without it, say hello to expensive bill and/or goodbye engine.

Guys, you’ve brought back some funny/not funny memories for me... when I was an 18yo idiot (I’m currently 46yo & significantly more mature), the oil light came on, on my Ford Escort 1.3l & I was kinda clueless about the dipstick malarkey. I stopped at a petrol station, bought 5l of oil & dumped as much as I could get into the engine - literally “brimming” it. The cloud of blue smoke when it eventually started & I gunned it, completely engulfed the filling station & slowly drifted up the road, ominously! I decided to burn off any surplus oil, on the motorway (remember, I was an idiot)... I had never driven it on the motorway before, so tried for the obligatory “ton” (100mph)... I was in the outside lane, doing 90-something, when a 1cm diameter hole blew out of one of the pistons! I became an award-winning Mazda motor vehicle technician (mechanic), then after a solid >9yr career, transitioned into the IT arena.

Seems like you have no clue calling that sort of thing sad which even you don´t have idea of how it really is. Under Corolla name tag that car was sold in many different body shapes (including hatchback) in most of countries like whole europe, australia and probably many other. You probably are from south africa which is only country to have "Conquest" name tag on a car which called corolla everywhere else. So i find it odd you saying people sad in your comment. Not declining it is Conquest in your country, but doesn´t mean that different market areas could have different names on same products.
