So, I hate to be that guy but I also own this knife. There are a couple things that are not covered in this video. The ceramic ball in the pivot area actually indexes to a milled hole one the female side of the pivot assembly to stop it from spinning during reassembly. And the lbs when tightened fully actually prevents the lock bar from disengaging. The knife also comes with a lot of replacement hardware in the pouch. One modification I made besides doing blue and gold anodizing is filing down the lbs screw to make removing the knife from my pocket easier. My final recommendation to anyone who owns this knife is to use vibratite and NOT loctite on the pivot and stop pin screws because they will loosen quickly if you use or just play with the knife a lot. I LOVE big, overbuilt knives! I am wanting a Titanium knife, this may be just what I am looking for. The handle kind of reminds me of my Benchmade Contego.

i love mine. i removed the LBS completely and have no issues. that rubber washer under the LBS, I took it out and put it under the pocket clip to give it just a hint more height. perfect fix.

That lock bar stabilizer is literally the only thing stopping me from getting that knife. If only they had made it flat and adjustable with a torx bit or something. As is it's saving me money, which is good too.

It's one of my favorite frame locks, but I always EDC my XL Espada aluminum or my titanium proponent .

The lockbar screw is also a lock. If you tighten it down the lockbar can not disengage. So its not as useless

I have absolutely no use for this but I still need one in my life. Saw one on Heinnie for £477 and by the time I talked myself into why I needed it, it had sold out. Hope they make more and it isnt a limited run.

Anytime i hear Sandstorm i will always think Darude. That being said, this knife is pretty cool. Really didn’t like it at first, but it’s grown on me to the point where i now have to try n find reasons not buy one lol. Thanks for great vid

I think you put the pivot screw in the wrong side, that little ball looks like it's there to prevent the pivot from free spinning

If you look at the part where he disassembled it, he clearly unscrewed the pivot from the lock side then reassembled it by screwing it in on the presentation side. Hopefully he reads this comment. 😂

So weird … definitely calling to me. I love my maxace PMP revenge and the maxace fit and finish is absolutely incredible, for the price especially. I hope they have some that aren’t coated (just a personal preference) but I’m happy with the aesthetics. Sandstorm is a cool song and this a cool knife. I’m into it. And the funky hole and weird secondary ramping makes me intrigued for some reason. I didn’t love it at first, but loved the idea, and the lines grew on me as this promethic, dinosaur - aged theme I’m feeling when I keep looking at it. And I LOVE big knives when done well. I can’t carry a brass proponent often, but I’ll do it when I can just for the fun of it, as long as I’m not scaring the office secretary lol. I like this. Grew on me. Glad you checked to see if that lock comes out !

Great review bro! I like your style! Subscribed! That pin looks like a thumbstud from some of my customs. The theory is people attach the pin to a lanyard so it's always available.

This knife could be in a "stupid fun" or "dumb fun" playlist. It is very a neat and interesting beast of a knife, that I would love to own. I would however make a disk shaped LBS with a chamfered hole to replace that mess in front of the pocket clip. Thanks for the video MC.

There's always a market for big knives, especially when is so magnificent made such as this one. I don't see why someone would not purchase this knife. Hard to carry, why?, if you have the right holster I don't see an issue. Of course you e not carrying in your pocket. This is a masterpiece knife, solid, build as a tank and is an integral. This blade shape is beautiful, an I would go for the flat handle version. Great knife and love the flip opening noise, is amazing.

I love this knife carry it all the time great blade. I really like the texturing on this version but went for the smooth handle style. I like the holes on the spine on mine and the weird issues aren't there. The action is a bit better on the smooth because it doesn't have that hole and also the lock stop is different. It doesn't have that screw sticking out the screw is part of that stop so it just has a small tab. That hole that they decided to put by the pivot is a little silly. The over travel stop you can twist and tighten all the way when open and that locks the lockbar. Pretty much like the Lionsteel SR does. That pin and hole is overkill the lockbar locks up they should have eliminated it. If they just took the smooth version as is and just textured the handle that would have been the way to go. O well even with these odd quirks an integral of this quality at this price it's well worth it.

Ive always wanted one a those maxace is one of my fav carry an none of them have that tension screw sticking out in the way of pocket clip i was fixing to say wow im fixing to make a purchase wen seen this vid but after tension screw turned me off right away

The sound alone is worth the price of admission. The monolithic frame and rock patterned carving on it are just cherries on top. Could do without the mostly gimmicky secondary and tertiary “locks” though.

I know this is a old video so you probably wont see this, but I think it would be helpful and easier to get a perspective on size if you compared something like this to say a Medford 187, xm 24, Strider, etc. Just for people that are into larger knives and have one or more of the more popular large folders can get a better idea on the actual size. I mean I think it would lol, just a suggestion.

I have one like this. I comparison with Sandstorm V2 are all other knives toothpick, and I extreme dislike toothpicks because there are no stability and are not solid at all - just like cardboard.

i own a v1 storm,it's good but it's conpond hollow grinad is kinda too fine for that strong design...... V2 with flat grind seems a better design choice :( and sorry but you put the axis wrong side up the ball is to keep pivoit screw from free spinning :)

I would go with the Guardian Tactical myself. I have the Recon Elite and the Microtech Combat Troodon, and the GT is my favorite still. A little more blade play, but the action is so much better on the Guardian Tactical knives. I know a few guys that were Microtech fanboys, that got a GT and now they are GT fans. One even sold his Microtech's off.

@@SharpShooterMike I've had the Recon Elite for 5 months now, carrying it in a kydex belt sheath sideways next to my belt buckle, at least 4 days a week. It is the only OTF that I haven't had a single misfire or failure to retract at all. I own 10 otf's. All over $250, with the most expensive ones being the Combat Troodon at $500. The Recon Elite is kinda expensive at $450, but I got it because the 040 only comes in a drop point blade currently... I am a tanto blade fan, so I spent the extra for the blade style basically. Tell you what though, It is the only otf I haven't felt the need to take apart. As for Microtech I own a UTX-85, an Ultratech circa 2008(my 1st otf), and the Combat. I have had broken springs with the UTX-85 and ultratech. Microtech has a great warranty, and they do not care if you are the 10th owner, they will repair it and sharpen it up too. Thing is it usually takes a month to get your knife back. Guardian Tactical supposedly has just as good service, Never had to use it though. Like I said, GT is the most dependable otf I have currently. I fire it all the time. Just to fire it, and 0 failures in 5 months. The switch is far more gentle on your thumbs too. Lol. I have hella microtech thumbs. 😂😂😂 . The GT has the smoothest action I have ever seen. It is like a custom trigger job on a gun, except it is a knife.

Did you see that little ceramic ball on the left side of the pivot screw? Thats used instead of a D shape pivot so the inside face of the screw holds in place. You're gonna fk up the knife if you keep using it with the pivot backwards because the right side screw doesn't have a hole for that ceramic ball. Also that on the side is a lock bar screw, not a detent bar adjustment screw.

It’s not so much that the entire block of titanium is trash, if they screw it up, but that all the WORK that has already gone into it is also wasted! That’s maybe up to a dozen operations, each of which cost a small bundle to execute, down the tube (and into the final cost). Therefore the cost is not that hard to understand. I want one!
