After being so pleased with my Original, I'm seriously considering this knife. Love the Kizer quality and thinking this will make a great hard use EDC to carry to the woods every day.

This thing is so crazy smooth, I find myself checking to see if the pivot screw has gone loose but it hasn't. I have a few much more expensive knives on ceramic bearings but the Cormorant is still at the top of the list for greased glass action. Looking forward to putting it through the pages at work.

I finally got my hands on a Cormorant! It is probably my favorite button lock of all time, bar none. I'm trying so hard to convince myself that I shouldn't buy the Ti/M390 version the second it comes out, and losing the battle.

Just got a 3v one and my first reaction was that it’s the Smock with a front flipper. Such an under the radar knife that I think is a perfect alternative those that can’t get a Smock. I think I prefer my Smock but it’s really not as far apart as you’d think.

Been wanting to get a Cormorant since it released, but no luck so far. You're totally right about the 80's vibes. Imagine some crazy neon dye on it. That'd be a sight to behold. If I ever get one, I'll probably dye the lines to look like the Dutch flag. There are two things I frowned at from my armchair: 1. The hole doesn't seem to sit exactly in the center of the cutout. 2. I'd have liked the screws to be flush with body/clip.

I managed to get my hands on one and found an issue that is fixable but surprising and annoying. The button lock is a screw cap and the threadlocker they applied at factory wasn't enough to keep it from getting undone. I was sitting in my living room fidgeting with it when the button cap just popped off. I was able to screw it back in without disassembling the knife, but later took it apart to add loctite. Beware this when you get it, check the button as you go or risk losing it!

Mine was loose too. I added Teflon tape and cranked it down really tight.

Yooooo I lost my button yesterday on a knife I had less that 24 hours . The blade was stick a bit so I was flipping in the car over and over to see if I can break it in and 💥. Button launched somewhere somehow. It was the micarta wmk version.

This design is definitely unique. I don’t know if I like it or not but I want one. Kind of weird. It just seems really interesting.

I really like the design of the knife. Very Smock like but with an added front flipper which is very cool. I don't like the jade/white G10 and hate the blade shape though. I'm hoping for future variants... Thanks for the review.

They need to make the blade length between 3.75" - 4" long to potentially have one of the best knives on the market! It was good enough for me to buy and I haven't bought a 3" knife in over a decade!

I was choosing between this and the Civivi Cogent as a Bday gift for my son. I ended up going with the jade plain edged Cogent. I knew he wouldn't like the white and black scheme and I'd have to dye the scales. Not something I'd want to do and the Cogent was only $70

I hope Kizer does more black stonewashed finishes like on the first production Feist Denim 20CV Titanium frame lock. That look so sick. I hope they will offer that finish on the regular liner lock 154CM Denim Feist as well. I'd much rather have a black stonewash or stonewash than just a black coated blade. This Comorant v2 looks like an great little knife.

This color scheme is for all the Star wars stormtroopers :-) I love the concept of multi-deployment button locks. I almost grabbed the Cogent but it just is not visibly pleasing to me, this one has a different vibe but still not grabbing me. Hopefully more options keep coming!

The cormorant might be worth doing the rit dye color job on. I think it could be cool. Waiting for more to drop, as well as the cogent plain edge...those seem to be moving well also.

It's starting to grow on me. I thought the x's on the handle were hokey. I like the straight lines. Will get one eventually.

Does this knife have a flat grind? The reason I ask is because my cormorant has a hollow grind but the knife in the video looks like a flat grind. I do have a different model, it's the frag pattern titanium version but I thought they were all hollow ground.

kizer released a new version with v1 handles but every other improvement of v2. got 2 of them, they are awesome👍

ive been waiting on this review. im eyeballing this knife so freaking hard as well as the cogent. ill consider myself "making it" in life when i have either one that i can get my hands on. i really liked the variant of this i saw with brown micarta scales. Oh fun fact on the major difference between v1 and v2 is the button access/plunge. v2 is bigger.

The cogent is available on smkw. Only natural g10 with black blade left. Unless you want partially serrated, there’s a bunch of those.

@@havoc1zero yea it’s more of I don’t have the founds can’t justify spending such on a knife Atm. My rat1 does the tasks I need but my indulgent side still wants a pricey knife. Even if there isn’t a spot for my lanyard cause I’m part of the 0.000000005 percent that exists that like our lanyards metal complex!

The micarta version of this knife comes with 3V steel. I wish they have Micarta + S35VN.

Here's my thing on lanyards, I have no use for them, the only time I put a lanyard on a knife is when I feel it's missing something visually. For me, there's no use for them, it's just for looks. Unless it has a very small handle, then the lanyard can add some handle length.

Why? It's S35VN... And it has more opening methods than the Smock. And better blade to handle ratio, also lighter.

This knife could be amazing if it was a standard button lock design. Having the plunge go through the blade is just terrible. Lock stick, threads grinding if the button comes loose or you lose the button all together. The blade is great and I personally enjoy the aesthetics, but unfortunately it's one of the worst knives I own.

Great review as always. Im just digging the styling of this one. I dont like its lines and the black and white combined with the overall architecture is just offputting to me. Reminds me of bird shat. Lol.

I don't get it, why make fun of a demographic within the knife community that has a valid argument? lanyards, like it or not, are useful. It may not be your cup of tea but the inclusion of a lanyard hole will only ramp up sales for those of us who want it thus making said item more successful and more likely to get future iterations.
