I have a question, you said that the missile would go for the hottest object which is the sun, but if it's in atmosphere the temperature would only read what the air temperature is currently and the afterburner of the aircraft would read hotter being that its closer. Basically if you point a thermal camera the afterburner on the jet would be hotter than if you point it at the sun because you are not getting the full temperature of the sun when you are in atmosphere, but if you were in space, I could see you getting a thermal reading of 10,000 degree farehnheit reading, because you are not under the protection of an atmosphere.

You was saying in F-35 helmet's you can see and track and lock in 360° around plane so if comes to close contact and before you turn and shoot and still having opponent behind you you locko and shoot Seeing wot Technology and Toys US Army have you don't have things like that so if you can answer I would be very very grateful 😊🙂👍

@@2ndtonone1000 The sensor in the missile looks for infrared radiation sources. The sun produces a lot more infrared radiation than a jet engine with or without its afterburner lit. I'm not an expert on the aim-9x but i would imagine that the sun could oversaturate the sensor and break a lock/prevent the missile from locking on to an aircraft.

Note that in DCS the F22 mod does not currently have thrust vectoring, there a build that he was able to fly but it isn't available to the public. He does have a video showing this seperately though. Just something to take into consideration. I think you'll enjoy his 4th gen fights much more. Like the f-18 v f-16 etc etc.

I remember this dogfight from GS. Your perspective as an experienced real-world combat pilot is very informative and enlightening. You mentioned one thing repeatedly.... "be aggressive even if its to keep the other pilot thinking." I agree 100%. Its like using feints in boxing, to make it look like you're about to throw something - but you're only doing it to keep the other fighter moving in a defensive manner." I believe GS did this video with his buddy LS (Long Shot), who also has his own channel as well. They are both very different in style. GS is more cerebral, a thinker who relies on technicals (like maneuvering and positioning to setup for a specific shot). But I feel somethings he just needs to be ready to be spontaneous and take the shot the opportunity is giving him in that split moment. Long Shot is the opposite. He is technical as well (a little less so), but he is much more of a "gunslinger", and has that aggressive mind-set. He tends to think "don't make obvious mistakes, first - and then take shots right after." Both of them are good in different ways. I recommend you watch their "2 morons" compilations - for a great laugh. Shot out to you, GS and LS. Great vid.

You should see Growing Sidewinder vs Long Shot doing the F/A-18F vs the SU-35 fight. I think that was the funnest to watch, what you just talked about with the pressure tone from the explosion of the AIM-9X happens in that video. He takes a fox 2 shot at the SU-35 it explodes by the nose knocking his nose cone and radar out but the heavily damaged SU-35 flown by Long Shot comes back for a Kentucky Windage Gun kill. That was some pretty BFM / ACM between those 2.

The one thing about this fight that is interesting to note is the f-22 doesn't have thrust vectoring in dcs. The su-57 does. The f-22 vectoring looks like it's working from the outside view but it's actually not doing anything in the game. There's a video GS did showing the mod with the thrust vectoring working and it's so over powered in the game nothing would be able to dog fight it.

Growling Sidewinder was the guy that got me interested in DCS. I had no idea that a military Flight sim quality online game like DCS even existed until one day I saw this video with _GROWLING SIDEWINDER_ across it in big red letters. My username used to be _SidewinderUpya6_ so I stopped and watched the video. Man I was blown away at how far the devs in DCS went; in the full fidelity jets like the Viper and the Bug, you basically had to study up in your Dash 1 to learn the systems. Really cool stuff except for the cost of the rig you need to fly properly. Now there seem to be more IRL fighter pilots getting involved with DCS and already I can see it is really helping the community by bringing that extra realism and skill set. Your addition is definitely gonna be a good thing so I hope you keep doing this.

@@somebody700 Russians are way ahead of the US. They've somehow figured out how to make radar absorbing coatings that come in blue! That's not really possible. Those coatings are the colour they are, because they're made of very particular materials in very specific particle sizes and arrangements. Adding paint or dye, is just gonna render them as useless as bare metal. I think the SU-57 is a lemon. Make outrageous claims, find a buy, and get rid of them. If they were any good, Russia would have more than...what? 8 of them? Someone in charge of their stealth program used the budget to buy a yacht. I'm sure it flies real nice. Russians seem stuck in the dogfighting days

I always love a new GS video. One specific thing he is extremely good at is situation awareness, and reacting to the bandit, and explaining his mistakes so you don't make the same ones. This dogfight is done with mods because there is no Su-57 or F-22 full fidelity in DCS. I really love his F-14 videos. That is a very difficult jet to master, and I have gotten a lot of good advice from his tomcat videos. Anyway, excellent debrief. Its about time you get DCS because the F-15E is coming, and it will be great to hear from an actual Eagle driver.

I was never a fighter pilot, couldn’t make it with my eyesight in the mid 80s at OSU AFROTC. Became an enlisted egresses troop instead. But I always was a fighter jock at heart. And aggressiveness seems to me to be a requirement for a fighter pilot. Love both of your channels and I commented on GS’s videos about his lack of aggression. Also it seems to me many of those presentations on the enemy shouldve been guns, not missiles. Certainly dont wanna monday morning QB as yall are the experts. Well done! Im a fan for life!

Hey, cool to see someone especially a fighter pilot, breaking down one of GS's dogfight videos! One thing you caught on to was him saying the Su-57 was doing its 'thrust vectoring bs', but that's also because thrust vectoring does not work on the mod (F-22) he was using in this video. It's unfortunately not modeled outside of the visual movements of the outlets. There is another version of the same mod which has it functional, but the creator does not plan on releasing it. Which is unfortunate. The only way to get thrust vectoring in the F-22 to work, as it is in the Su-57 is with Ai piloting the bird. In this video, The Su-57 has thrust vectoring available to a player pilot, but the F-22 does not. The pilot in this video should be, iIrc, Longshot, another really good DCS pilot. These two fly together and against one another frequently. So really, what you're seeing here is the Raptor using an F-15 flight model, with a slight bump in ITR (you won't need this defined, but for those who don't know - Instantaneous Turn Rate) and STR (Sustained Turn Rate) among a couple other upgrades to make it perform 'similar' to having thrust vectoring, but GS is not getting the same benefit of TV as the Su-57. So hopefully that might clear that up. The F-22 mod in DCS though has immense rudder authority, so it can pull off some very interesting maneuvers that other 4th gen fighters can only gape in awe at. All that said, loving the vid and the breakdown so far, now I'm going to finish watching this. This was a great react video to GS now that I'm done watching. Hopefully you didn't get bored AF with my long rambling commentary, lol! Earned a sub. Nothing but love for my American winged brothers. As for which jet for me, well, the F-22 is A1 since Day 1, every day. Also; Thank you for your service. o7

He said the code of honor was that you didn’t shoot at an enemy pilot who successfully punched out of a doomed airplane, but then he saw too many of his buddies get shredded by Japanese fighter jocks. He said that once he had seen that sadly the policy became “shoot as many o’ those bastards that you can!!!”

I was a maintenance guy for an air control squadron, and we were encouraged to listen in on GCI if a seat was available. The operator unplugged your mic, then put on a show. Pilots would start out trying to push the controller out of his headset, then turn into a salivating carnivore when he realized ours were very good. Basically, our controllers lead with patience, then made sure the first 'call' actually assisted, rather than distracted, the pilot. I really enjoyed it.

Agreed, I'm a forty year old now and grew up a gamer, and it's surprising how difficult it is to carry on a cogent narrative of conversation in a "fight" situation. Especially something as tediously complex as a fighter jet sim, not just an "intense game" but something where you've got to juggle very necessary real world applications inside the "video game-y" environment of the sim's physics. GS has always impressed me with his amusing wit and humbleness, always seems to go out of his way to teach rather than do the "I'm the best gamer ever!" thing we get too often. Best wishes mmtot!

Great vid man. You should react to more of his videos. Maybe the BVR engagements? It would be interesting to hear your input.

So I raced from 4-25 under sponsorship, now I watch my kids and do it for fun. But I’m having a lot of flashbacks. For those that have never raced winged sprint dirt/ stock asphalt superspeedways it’s all about energy management. So a great example. If it’s 180-200laps. You spend Lap 1-150 figuring out your cars capability Vs the competition. As the laps click down your in your mind brainstorming how you will defend against each cars strength. On high banked tracks usually my cars would lose very little RPM. It was my #1 pet peeve for my engine guy. I wanted to maintain rpm when the gs loaded/wind. If your car was equal then you had to ram a wake of air under the other guys car and hope you get him loose. They either lift or go in head first. 99% of guys lift. You don’t need the best equipment. You just gotta know how to corner a dude and capitalize off his mistakes.

@@MaxAfterburnerusa On his page he has hundreds of videos of all kinds of match ups including 2v2's etc. Some of the bets ones are the Tomcat because it's not fly by wire (as you know) so it's pretty hard to control in high AOA dogfights against 4th gen fighters. Plus longshot (the guy who he was fighting) is usually the RIO and they are hilarious together. hahah

This is an older video. The F-22 aircraft in DCS World is a community mod since the game does not have this aircraft. I highly recommend reacting to a few dogfights that include aircrafts like F-16 or F-14 since those are official modules with realistic flight models. Overall it is an amazing game with a wonderful community out there.

@@nicolaslabra2225 yeah that is a common issue with Russian aircrafts in video games. Even official modules in DCS come with a disclaimer. The issue is the developers can only use data that is published by Russian government to avoid legal issues, and surprise surprise! Russian government lies through their teeth on their aircraft capabilities. The exception is the export variants since those get tested and verified by other countries.

Thank you for your commentary and professional points of view for content, that is at the end of the day just simulations for entertainment. Im a fan of GSW and now you earned my sub for your channel. Please continue onto this series. If possible, could you comment on the warning sound for "Over G, Over G" @ 22:02. For what I been able to detract from online info, this is due to the stress on the aircraft frame when Gravity overload tolerances are exceeded. How common is this in a real life scenarios? If or when it happens, are pilots instructed to report these to the crew chief? Is the aircraft deemed worthy for sorties, if too many "Over G" warning flags happen? Thanks in advance.

I would imagine that the crew cheifs would get a digital readout of what the aircraft went through in training or in the field. (Depending on the age of the jet) So that they know what to look for while servicing the aircraft. Speculation though man I am no expert and it's a good question.

Good video. I definately recommend checking out one of growling sidewinders other videos with higher fidelity aircraft like the F-16 or so. The F-22 you see here is a free community mod so it's not the best representation of what DCS can do.

There was a short video i saw on KZfaq the other day- it showed 2 Raptors sneaking right close behind 2 SU57's and the SU57's had no idea the Raptors were there. From that, i can take it the SU57's must-have detection problems.

I've never dominated the like button this quickly on this channel before. I've been watching Growling Sidewinder for a long time. This was great. He did a couple of Foxhound BVR videos last month that gave me nightmares. It seems like that monster can kill anything. Was there a way for him to survive? Or is the Foxhound really that amazing?
