With more than 16,000 children watching over 500 crosswalks around Alberta, we take the job of training AMA School Safety patrollers pretty seriously. But that doesn’t mean we don’t like to have a little fun along the way. Our training and recruitment video ‘Maxed Out’ takes a humourous approach to learning. Special thanks to Edmonton Police Service for their creativity and support.
Students can follow along as Max struggles to make it to the AMA School Safety Patrol tryouts. Max has the passion to get the job done, but before she earns her fluorescent vest and stop sign paddle she’ll have to charm the sinister school librarian Mrs. Turnstone. Will Max get to show off her stuff in the crosswalk? Or will she join the rumoured ranks of former students who’ve been turned to stone?
‘Maxed Out’ is a great tool to recruit new patrollers (Grades 5 & 6) and train them in the proper crosswalk procedures. It’s also appropriate for younger students (Grades K - 4) to reinforce pedestrian safety on busy school sidewalks and crosswalks.
