beautiful Mt Beauty .. loved the scenic shots with you and Occy. I have a friend in Victoria I would love to visit again. I also have a Goddaughter in Hervey Bay who is a nurse, her husband is a mental healthnurse and they take their children camping whenever they can ... its a great area xx

Your videos are always beautiful and spot on. Seeing you and Occy together will always make me smile. Since covid hit, almost 2 years ago, I bought a piece of property and parked my van on it while I started cutting down trees, built a road, hooked up electricity, learned how to work a tractor, excavator, and dump truck, dug a septic system, took rain water showers in the middle of the trees every day at 3pm like clockwork, made a rain water catchment into old pickle barrels with ceramic filters, raised wild guinea fowl, sand cranes, met up with wild deer and boar, a jaguar, and ran off a bear, and eventually rented a mill and built a tiny home out of the trees I cut down. It was a magical time. I highly recommend it :) Thank you for the amazing music as well! I'm glad you pointed out the artists because I was going to ask.

While you're figuring things out, Occy is living his best life so there's nothing wrong with that. And you've gotta do what makes you happy. If you're doing things just for the subscribers and it's not making YOU happy, the content will suffer no matter how great the scenery is.

I endorse your choices, Max! Sailing life would be incredibly isolating, and it is good to have community, especially right now. Keep posting whenever you like! I can’t speak for everyone, but I *think* most people follow KZfaq channels in a way that’s just like, “oh, good! A new Max and Occy video!” instead of “it’s Sunday at 7 am - WHERE IS THAT VIDEO?!!🤬” And if they aren’t like that, maybe you don’t want them following your channel? 🙃 Good luck making your decisions in the coming weeks!

So glad you've made the realization that the videos and content are not as important as your mental health! Of course, I love to follow along with your journey and never tire of seeing Occy's beautiful face but it's crucial to recognize that you also need to be where you can build on your community. Just curious if you've read the book "Digital Minimalism" by Cal Newport. If not, you might want to check it out...

I’d add “Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It”. You’re worthy of full on love....it only comes through loving you, above all other people and duties. You have soooo inspired me as I’ve watched your channel as of late and of course while you shared life with your beautiful lover and friend, Lee. Grief has a way of challenging who we are and what we thought was “us”. May you take the time to truly lean into “who am I” outside of your social media lens and the death of a dear friend. The world needs you...100% you...so go be him. We love you!

I know of what I share on losing identity, as my 17 year old daughter died unexpectedly on May 19, 1020. I have done and I continue to do the work of healing from that loss as well as the losses that life brought before her passing. There’s soooo much good though on the other side of choosing to live fully alive....letting go of what no longer serves us!!

Brilliant decisions Ladd! When you mentioned taking Occy on a boat, I was fearful for him. As a former sailor, I spent some years sailing around Hawaii, I know it would be challenging for a senior dog. I know he has been an amazing traveling companion, but he deserves to live out his golden years with his mate at home. Perhaps a slower pace ❤️ Also unselfish choices for yourself Max.

The digital world is so exhausting and “on” all the time; a lot of what you said really resonated (especially about finding a community). You don’t owe anybody anything, your videos are always so beautiful and Occy is the fluffiest love ball ever, so it’s no wonder you want to have some time just living slowly in that reality and putting your mental health first. I don’t think anybody in this community would hold that against you!

This video made me cry, especially the reunion between you and Occy. I had a vision of Occy (someday) meeting Lee in Heaven, and it was so bittersweet and lovely. Being in a space where you can form friendships and a sense of community and have a home base seems to be where most all the van life people I’ve followed for the last five years have landed. From what I've seen, having a cabin/cottage + van is a pretty swish combination, the van is always there for when adventure is calling, yet you always have a cozy home base to return to 🤗🔥 A thousand thankyous for your build series as it's been a great guide and confidence boost for my Iveco build that I'm currently trying to tackle 🙏 I love your videos, but I love even more that you're putting yourself and Occy's health first. Brother you have come a long way with your cinematography. The scene with Occy at the water was fantastic and your message is one I believe in as well. As a fellow Aussie lover , Occy naturally was my initial draw to your channel yet I found much more than I could have imagined. You have a good soul and that is something we all need more of. I have been around for a long time... I will say, that I prefer the way your publishing videos right now. It is exciting to get a new one, and the quality does not feel like it is rushed like before when you were posting once a week. Don't worry Mate, no matter what you decide, as long as you keep putting out videos, I (we) will keep watching. Most of us get that you have to find what is right for you. I have a family, and a house, and a fulltime job, and dream of a simple van life.. Awesome video! Can't wait for the next one!

Loved the music, really loved the reunion with Occy. I was hospitalized a few times and won't ever forget how happy my Sleepy dog was when I came home. They can't contain themselves. Max, making decisions is hard. Harder still is making the call to change course when needed, but you can. Make the best decision that you can and then, change course if you need to do that. You are an amazing man. You have people who care about you. You have this channel for some income. You have valuable paramedic skills. You have good friends and a loving family. You have many options and so no one decision will have catastrophic consequences. No worries. We just want to see you happy because you certainly deserve it!

Your van turned out beautifully and I am impressed at your attention to detail. That was no easy fear but your perseverance certainly paid off and I enjoyed all the detailed instruction you shared. Max - I dropped off a while back and just caught up on everything that's happened. It's so hard to comprehend this type of situation. It's confusing, deeply sad and impactful. I'm personally sensitive to the situation when people check out. I can empathize to a degree. As you're seeing though, the sun does come up again and things move on. While it sounds mildly selfish you have to move forward understanding that you can choose to do so and be happy again. Cool new van BTW.. Nice work on the inside... Mike ATL, Ga

Your videos are far from boring Max. They’re fantastic to watch. I’ve been watching quite a lot of tiny home and Van-life videos since corona hit us all. Van-life is something I’m seriously considering as the cost of rents are escalating and it helps watching you build from scratch, to see what I’d be facing. Travelling around Australia at the moment, being 2022 with restrictions lifted, would probably open a person up to travelling further without any hassles. Your videos are very inspirational and I thoroughly enjoy watching them.

Great to see you both again and home safe in Australia. I think everyone is so tossed up in life lately really wanting and needing a different path and I’m one of them . This video will help a lot of people I think. Happiness isn’t about having a lot of material things and your really showing us how true that is if you allow it and live life rich in other ways that are meaningful. The sun shower swim was simply magical. Great you have decided to follow your heart. Occy melts my heart. All he needs is you. Enjoy the ride Max.

Not that you need to be told, but you are doing the right thing by yourself by doing what is best for yourself and Occy. Congrats on levelling up as a human. Far too few content creators will admit how much of their life choices are pragmatically dictated by 'Will this make great content?' A terrifying thought is that you might make a choice that makes your life more marketable, but less livable. Kudos to you for admitting this is a potential pitfall, and how you are navigating it/avoiding it. I echo what others say- your honesty is what makes the content compelling, not where you go.

Max you have got this. Power on my friend. We lost our son, a c6/c7 paraplegic on this day one year ago. Chris had come so far, and yet a massive stroke took him from us. I am in sorrow and yet, I have come to the point where I can remember happy times and remember him. Hugs.

Whew! I was so worried about Occy living on a boat. I'm happy that your decision will mean that Occy gets to live out his beautiful life on dry land. I know he would be happy wherever you are, Max, but I'm just glad he will be able to stretch out his limbs with daily walks. Your decisions for your channel are actually inspiring me to make some small changes in my life too. Its time to take a step off the beaten path.

I agree. We have five Aussies on our property, which is two acres, and they use that area to happily run and play all day when they are not off on a day trip.
