@@seraaaaaaMay December was announced in June 2021 with Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore attached to it so they had time to change the title before a 2022 release date. They may not have, but I can't find any proof that May December January was the title prior to June 2021.

Omg wait the title actually makes a lot of sense because a "May December romance" is a relationship with a large age gap, and since December and January are months right next to each other it's like a relationship /without/ an age gap. So each person in the movie is represented by a month in the love triangle. Also RIP Pol

@@kimmirandaart9909 very late reply but yes, a lot of pinoy tv dramas air during dinner time (7-11pm). filipino households usually have their tvs set up near their dining/kitchen area, mostly catering to moms/housewives/nannies that often like to have teledramas on while preparing dinner, and kids end up usually watching along with them. thinking about it now, all that probably influenced my current desire to watch/have youtube essay/commentary videos playing while eating/working...

The idea that a person becomes pregnant, and also wants to be a writer but end up not becoming one, is something the son should be made to feel some kind of responsibility for, and him sacrificing something as "repayment" for his mom's decisions, is something to be praised, is insane. To me that is just abusive. No child should be made to feel responsible or guilt for a parent's decision to keep them.

I'm Filipino American, and growing up in my multi-generational household, I was exposed to the joy and the glory that is messy Filipino dramas from an early age. My grandparents moved here when I was eight, and lived with us until I graduated high school, at which point they move back to the Philippines. So, all my growing up, my family back home would send packages full of letters from home and products and media that you couldn't get here in the US. Our living room had shelves of home recorded VHS tapes full of messy 1980s and 1990s era Filipina melodramas, and I ate that stuff up as a kid. Watching your videos on these more recent films really takes me back, and I am so glad that the film industry of my mother's country has up to the production value while giving us all the delicious mess that we crave😅

As a Filipino, I have always loved how Filipino movies get messy 😂 It’s not as chaotic as c-dramas, but they are enough. They are a joy. Sometimes they make you yell at the tv 👀🙈 Welcome to the mess! I cannot wait for more ❤

You should try watching Die Beautiful, about the life of a gay man in the Philippines. I watched it with my sister in the cinemas. It's a great film but after the credits rolled, my sister and I were just speechless and we didn't want to talk about the movie. We tried to block it from our memories. Basically the movie is about a gay man's life from childhood to adulthood (he died young 20s or 30s maybe), and all the challenges he faces. One of the most disturbing scenes in the movie was when he excitedly accepted his crush's invite to hang out, and then he gets graped by his crush and his gang. At first he liked it but by the 4th guy he wondered why he wasn't enjoying it as much and if this should be considered as grape.

Kennie, i think you need to watch Big Daddy Joe Morton's breakout role - Brother From Another Planet. He plays a mute alien being hunted by the government and his special power is fixing video games with his mind . It's so incomprehensible that my dad, an engineer, made me watch it with him at multiple Christmases to explain it to him. Sadly, this was pre-weed, so i had nothing to offer. He eventually saw imdb refer to it as a comedy, which had not occurred to either of us. You will love it. ❤

Kennie, please please please make a video on another filipino movie called "the gifted" its about two childhood best friends and geniuses that turn into rivals when they fall in love with Mark. They undergo cosmetic surgery in an attempt to win the man of their dreams. Also react to "diary of an ugly" poor girl who happens to be ugly gets bulkiwd in school. She needs a high paying job to help her aunt out, so she decided to be a maid for a rich family, turns out that her school bully is her boss' son.

girl as Filipino thank you for taking the time watching and sharing Filipino movies to a foreign audience BUT THEESE ARE NOT WHAT THE CLAASIC FILIPINO MOVIE TYPE IS😭. growing up everyone always acknowledges the ridiculousness of it its part of the fun but if you are interested in more; some pinoy movies everyone lives and swears by: The Healing, She's dating the gangster(personal fave beware it was a wattpad story), etiquette for mistresses (idk superior title honestly)...

NGL, I thought the twist was going to be that Migoy dies instead of Pol, Migoy is an organ donor, Pol gets his heart and lives, and, therefore, Pol technically gets his dream of being inside Migoy…he just wouldn’t doesn't get to enjoy/experience it. 😱🤣

Also the title actually is related to the movie. As I only recently learned, the term May December is used to describe a large age gapped relationship, especially older woman, younger man. I think the January is because of Paul who is close in age to Miggs which is why it comes right after December

the plot is given away, to a certain extent, in the title. A “May December” relationship is one with a significant age gap. So you know it’s gonna be some sort of triangle/thruple with one age gap and one close in age.
