I’m currently reading Coraline with my daughter. We read a chapter each day. She loves spooky movies and book like me 😊. Next will be Oceans at the end of the lane. Blade sounds interesting to read.

Laini Taylor's "Strange the Dreamer" duology is amongst my top 3 favourite fantasy (alongside Joe Abercrombie's "First Law" trilogy and "The Curse of Chalion" by Lois McMaster Bujold). Conversely, "The Shadow of the Torturer" was one of my least favourite fantasy reads (and remains the review on my channel that continues to receive the most aggressively hateful comments - most of which I end up deleting!).

I agree with you that Ephraim's the best. Lysander was my least favorite in iron gold, but he gets a lot better in dark age.

Ooh fantastic reading month. I really need to give Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy another go, I liked but didnt love book 1 but that was years ago, I feel I might enjoy it a bit more knowing where the plot is going, and what its building too (and also I hadnt realised the romance was such a large part of the story, but going in I think ill appreciate that more)

I'm looking forward to reading 'The Wizard Knight,' comprising the two books 'The Wizard' and 'The Knight' by Gene Wolfe because it looks a bit less intimidating and dense as the New Sun books. I picked 'The Essex Dogs' based on the Brothers Gwynn recommendation - I like your description of how it reads. Haven't read it yet. A good and varied variety of books!

I loved the arc of ascension! Not my usual genre so I was hesitant but it was so surprising!

I read 15 books in may My favorites were What my bones know by Stephenie foo memoir this book is totally worth a read for people who suffer from childhood trauma Heart bones by colleen Hoover False witness by Karin slaughter My least favorite The reunion by kayla Olsen Camp zero by Michelle min sterling

I love Dan Jones's non-fiction, I picked up essex dogs when it came out, haven't started it yet. Mostly just trying to finish series this year so finished grishaverse and the Belgariad/Mallorean, now sun eater I'm on kingdoms of death and still can't put it down

@@LienesLibrary It really is, even if the religious aspect is getting very noticeable. My main issue at first was wrapping my head around the sheer amount of time the books covered, for characters to casually say they're like 1000 years old is still shocking

I fell in love with the UK book cover of Ascension but man, from the 100s of reviews and (valid) critiques I've read of it, the story seems very subpar. Quite sad lol.

@Liene's Library Ahem... hated the romance, didn't like the vibes or the characters. (I did like Lazlo before he got to his destination) and the plot didn't interest me at all. There was also my intense disappointment: "This is it? The book everyone loves is THIS?"

Dan Jones is irritating as a non-fiction writer and a TV history pundit because he asserts things without disclosing his sources. Sometimes, it's stuff that has sources, which I recognise because I've read a ton of other books on the topic. Sometimes, he presents one of several theories as fact and doesn't mention that other historians disagree.
