Replacing the rear speakers in my girlfriend's 2003 Civic EX Coupe. Step-by-step instructions. See below for links to parts and tools.
This was one of the most difficult speaker replacements I've done. But don't be scared off by that - it's definitely doable. But it's a whole lot more work than it could have been if the vehicle had been engineered just a little differently. The problem is the bolts that hold the speakers in are not accessible until you remove the rear deck panel, which also contains the factory speaker grills. And to get that off you have to remove both rear seatbacks, both pillar panels and the rear passenger side panel.

Speakers - the new speakers are Pioneer 6" x 9" TS-G690, 3-way, 45 watts RMS, 400 watts peak, 90 db sensitivity, 4 ohms. They sound very nice (OEM replacement quality). They match well with the head unit, which puts out 14 watts RMS, 50 watts peak. .
