In this easy to follow step-by-step guide I will show you exactly how to take apart your Maytag bravo 300 quiet serious. This Maytag bravo is very similar to several other Maytag machines. Having a dryer stopped up with a lint can cause overheating, Clothes drying much slower or even catch fire. It’s very important to break a dryer all the way down to the fan to clean out the blades because it will make the dryer fan extremely inefficient and causing overheating.
Maytag‘s are one of the harder Dryers to disassemble but with this easy step-by-step guide you’ll be able to fully take apart the dryer and reassemble it.
This is also a great guide for homeowners and repairman that are not familiar with this machine. The process of disassembling a Maytag bravo is the same process he will need to replace heating elements drum wheels and belts.
If you do not know how to disassemble a Maytag dryer you came to the right video.

Man, this video literally saved my family’s life. Just last weekend, my wife noticed a burning smell coming from the dryer. I shut it off, and looked for “Maytag Bravo 300 Burning Smell”, and this video came up. You did an incredible job walking me through the process. I was shocked to see how much lint had accumulated inside that machine. I hate to think of what might have happened if it had gone unattended. You are a hero in our house. Thank you!

Glad to help. Be sure to check the vent pipe. Going from the back of the dryer to the outside. A lot of times it will be slightly stopped up and it will be causing lint to buildup in the dryer.

CRAZY AWESOME helpful, thank you! After spending $800 to fix the dryer vent under our raised foundation, the dryer worked for 3 minutes. The tech told me it may be the fan belt came loose. Many thanks. Dryer was working but not blowing so saw your video. 15 minutes later tools in hand and about an hour later (I am not always the quickest) clothes drying and the exhaust "hose" is boucing from the hot air being emitted from my now properly working dryer :) I really appreciate how simple you made it and showed step by step disassembly and took the time to show the order to put it back together. Also pointing out things to remember and possible issues and what to do if they happen. Kudos to you. One comment and I am not sure if it the year of my dryer or perhaps a variation but when I tried to remove the fan, there were 2 screws attaching the assembly to the motor. My model Mayteg Bravos Quiet Series 300 had what looks like a flywheel that made it difficult to get to the screws. The screwdriver/socket nor a ratchet could not fit in because of the "flywheel" No worries, I improvised and was able to get a pair of liars and slowly unscrew the screws (actually only one was inaccessible with the socket wrench and handheld socket / screwdriver socket). Could only turn it about a 10th of a turn each time but eventually loosened and was able to take assembly out and clean it out as per your video. Thought I would mention it in case others had same issue/model, I did not see the piece on the dryer in your video. BUt again, thanks for the posting the video and walking us trough it. Keep up the good work. Best Ted

I believe the legacy series has the filter that comes out the top of the machine. Those are very easy but not the same as the machines breakdown. I may be wrong about which dryer the legacy series is. Maytag likes to reuse names every once in a while so I might be thinking of the older version that has a filter that comes out the top.

@WasherDryerMoney
@WasherDryerMoney 2 жыл бұрын
My best guess of why this is happening often to you is there is Air flow restriction. Set an already done a good thorough cleaning of the inside of the dryer including around the fan housing my guess would be it’s the dryer hose leading out of the dryer into the wall or the pipe leading out of the wall to the outside has something in it or is clogged up. A quick way to check is to feel how hard the dryer normally blows without an exhaust pipe on it. Then put the exhaust pipe back on and walk outside and see if it’s blowing about the same. If it’s far west there will be a air restriction somewhere in between. Good luck.

I'm having this issue where the lint falls through the trap and down to the bottom. It then gets coated on the coils or wires that are visible under the drum. There's literal burned lint. I will clean it up, and in a month it's back to completely filthy and catching on fire again. Are there any recommendations to tighten the gap on the lint trap so less falls through and it actually does in fact get caught IN the trap so I can then throw it out?
@WasherDryerMoney
@WasherDryerMoney 7 ай бұрын
If you think it’s a bad lint trap I would just replace it. It’s a fairly inexpensive part. If you’re 100% sure there is nothing clogging the line between the dryer and the outside of the house. It may be a bad drum seal. The seals last a long time but do go bad on the older machines. If you have a bad drum seal it will start building lent up quickly inside the housing of the dryer.

Very helpful, but missing a step - removing the bell shaped piece in front of the motor. Also, it would be helpful to see how to attach the drum belt without removing the back.

This type of Maytag is way easier to put the belt on if there is a access panel on the back. Not all dryer have this but several of this type of Maytag do have it and it make it a lot easier. I’m not sure what bell shaped piece you’re referring to. It’s been a while since I’ve done this video or worked on this type of dryer. But if I do a new video about it I’ll be sure to add that step.

@@WasherDryerMoney Thanks so much for responding - it's a silver ~ 4" diameter dish-shaped metal device that sits in front of the fan belt on the motor, attached by the bolt. I don't know if your model has it as it wasn't there when you removed the drum in the video. In any event, this video really helped - our dryer is working much better now!

2nd big mistake NEVER put lithium grease on rollers,that's just creating a problem down the road,that grease is now going to catch lint & bind up Rollers bearings are oil impregnated to release over time.If anything spray wd 40 on the shafts and use plumbers cloth lightly to clean .roll the plumbers cloth and clean inside of roller bearing use a rag or paper towel to clean all residue and excess wd 40 off.Bedt thing to do is replace the roller if the shaft is in good condition.

A BACKDROP! Moving up in the world, hunh? But the more important question is, who is filming?
@WasherDryerMoney

Yeah I'm moving soon but I wanted to experiment with different color backgrounds before I paint my new shop filming area. It's my old sheets LOL. My wife does most of the filming. She's getting much better at it.

Great video except you don’t even mention the heating elements. Lint built up inside the housing is what’s gonna cause a fire. Mine was full of lint that was singed black.

So in conclusion, the lint filter screen is crap…. Because thats a newer drier with a bunch of smart diag circuitry up in.. my dryer was born in 95 and i opened it up to change the teflon sliders that the drum slides on and only pulled out a few handfhulls of lint.. blower was fine.. about 7 years ago i replaced the old heating coil with a new one from a brand new model and it dries faster and uses half as much electric than it used to.. but my sister bought one of these dryers and it stopped drying. Running test mode it steams the inside and never cuts off so clothes are wet when done….
