What you can really see in my video is the a/c clutch. There are any number of reasons why it could not be working however. I'd start with checking the pressure to make sure there is refrigerant in the system. If you have a leak, it won't engage to save it from destroying the compressor. Be really careful though, I'd recommend a shop if you don't know what you're doing. Everything is under pressure and can be pretty dangerous.

hey!!! i have an 05 mazda 3 too!!.. mines doing the same exact thing in your video. when ac is off it'll spin half ass like that and it squeeks too. you think its the ac clutch bearing? if i were to take out the bearing would i pressurize any ac out? lmk!!!!! thanks for the vid!

Mine would spin on an off once warm. I changed cabin filter, verified all fuses and relays were good then I changed the pulley, clutch, and belt. It still did the same thing. In fact it started to smoke on the pulley because the new one completely fell apart. I put in the old pulley and put everything back together. I will be testing it soon but I am pretty sure it’s not going to work. Next thing I do is cut the belt and call it a day a very hot and miserable day with no ac. Because fixing it is going to cost a rip off fortune

Mine don’t cut off it stays on and my fan stays on all the time but when I turn it off the fan turns off. But doesn’t it suppose to cut off every once in a while

Same thing happened to my Pontiac Transport 1997, today was the first time I drove the car without air and my drive belt got torn up, luckily I was near my mechanics place to get it fixed. Tell me the steps you took to fix yours and tell me if your drive belt got messed up as well. Thanks

exact same problem on my 04 mazdaspeed miata. A/C works fine but once A/C is turned off, the middle of the a/c pulley spins half ass just like in your video and it makes an annoying screeching noise. May I ask how did you fix your problem? Did you have to replace the whole compressor?

I have a 2007 Mazda 3. The a/c works excellent on the highway but not in traffic, it blows warm.

The clutch on my Mazda is engaged all the time even when the AC is turned off. I'm assuming it's faulty. Duh! Does anybody else have this issue.

I have a 2009 Mazda 3 and my air completely quit. Shop said it was the clutch in the compressor but all had to be replaced. Is their a cheaper solution out there. fingers crossed

Check the gap between the clutch plate and pulley. Should be 0.5mm. Your gap is less than this, if not 0. Add spacers, viola, shit fixed.

same shit happened to me.. after replacing it.. now my belt tensioner pulley assembly is acting up.. ahhhhhh

These cars are real trash. Cheap design, just a re-branded Ford. I wish I was there to prevent the purchase when my girlfriend bought it...but I didn't know her yet. 70k miles of soft driving and its falling apart.
