Dear Helmut, I recently tried your tips on eco driving - mostly the one about not forcing the constant speed when going uphill. This, plus more acceleration when going downhill resulted in a new record for me! And I was not the slowest on the road either ;) Simply amazing! Previously I had slightly lower consumption records, but pretty much only because I was following trucks - needless to say, that was not the quickest way of traveling. Your tips changed that tremendously! Thanks again!

@@ecodriver1746 Just FYI: My stats from the last ride: Honda Civic X 1.5T, 182 BHP CVT - 6l/100km, avg speed: 81 km/h. Obviously, not as detailed as your tests, but for me it's an improvement of around 1l / 100km.

@@greengohm BTW: After ~330 km on the current tank, my average is 5.9 l/100 km (despite not trying my best sometimes), a mix of town and out-of-town driving. Mazda 3 MPS (2.3 turbo, petrol), PY 2006, 255,000 km, originally 191 kW/380 Nm, now 231 kW/471 Nm. The car is rated at 7.5 extraurban/9.7 combined/13.5 urban. Well, I did 4.9 l/100 km with a rented Fiat Ducato 2.3 JTD 150 PS in 2014 (2.5+ m high, 2.0+ m wide, 6+ m long). That was a REAL hardcore vehicle. 6-speed manual and when you used 6th gear, it had enough torque and tall gearing to run with the engine at IDLE on a flat straight at around 60 km/h speedometer (definitely over 50 GPS, don't remember the precise value - it was 8 years ago). And since that beast has a tank of 90 liters, you can literally cover 1800 km on a tank! 😯But my brother's Toyota Previa MkII 2.0 D-4D 85 kW can do even much better. I did an A-B-A test at 3.3 l/100 km. And the fuel tank is 75 liters. So, you can do over 2000 km per tank (ideal route)!

Hi Helmut, have you did a MPG test on the Mazda 3 Skyactiv X engine?

Have you had a chance to drive the mild hybrid Mazdas? They're only 24v so I'm not sure they improve efficiency very much in real world conditions, I'd be happy to be proved wrong though.

I've done the CX30 and CX5. Mild hybrids deliver around 0,2-0,4 l/100 kms.
