I can't thank you enough for this video! My back rear double seat (middle and passenger side) were struck folded down due to the middle seat belt retracter being locked on, the seat wouldn't fold up. I tried everything! (spend a good few hours wriggling the belt retractor) I couldnt access the bolt were the seat belt was anchored to the floor... then I see this video! Back seats removed, 14mm socket, anchor point released and seat folded up. In upright position seat belt is retracting perfect, car put back together... 10 minutes!

Hi, very helpful video, thank you. Are you planning to make a video about soundproofing the Mazda2?
@HiroshimaSpirit

+elektronstorm I'm glad you enjoyed it! No, I don't plan on adding any soundproofing to my car. I don't care about outside noises from the exhaust or the road, I never use the radio, and almost always drive with my windows down. Soundproofing would do nothing but add unnecessary extra weight to the car.
@elektronstorm
@elektronstorm 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for reply. In city driving you are right but on long distance driving, road noise is too much. By the way, sprinkle water from passenger side hits the right wiper, when wiper is in idle position. Do you experince the same problem?

2 notes: 1. the screws that hold the seat belt buckles in are different that the other two and have to go in the same holes. 2. If you don't put the screws back in you can see daylight. @@sarah_blazer hmm, it'd probably be best to take the whole thing out so you have more room to disconnect the "40" part from the "60". I had a 89 Diahatsu that was the greatest car ever. I took out the back seat BUT It also had a 60/40 split back seats. But with the back seat gone all I had to do was to fold the two seats forward and it filled in where the seat was and it went totally flat. Would love to see what you came up with if you can post a little picture here!
@bloodgirl4
@bloodgirl4 5 жыл бұрын
@@tamarap387 I would recommend doing it the same way its done in this video. When you leave the seat backs in there will be a gap of 3 or 4 inches and its a hard ridge. Very hard to cover and make level with soft materials like foam. My friend and I ended up making a wood platform that is about 60 inches long and 30in wide. (I'm 5'1) and it sits up about 6 inches in the cargo area so it can be level all the way through, and it two side pieces it sits on has cut outs for the ridge of the back seats. I do believe that if you take out the backs and leave the bottoms it will be more even and easier to level out with foam ( I uses dog beds from Ross w/ mattress toppers from Walmart)

Longer tools or a jack handle on the end of your ratchet will provide the leverage you need.

What's that wire beneath that rear sit for?
@HiroshimaSpirit
@HiroshimaSpirit 4 жыл бұрын
The fuel tank is under the rear seat, so the fuel pump and/or sender, probably.

Careful sleeping in your car if you're drinking. You can get a DUI doing that I'm some states/provinces!
@HiroshimaSpirit

If you’re in the driver seat with the keys anywhere on your person, yes. Lying in the back doesn’t constitute being “in control” of the vehicle. That’s good to know, however.

HiroshimaSpirit Different from state to state. Where I am, if you have the keys in the vehicle with you it's a DUI. You can get a DUI getting something out of your trunk here. It's stupid, but the rule is there to stop people from just throwing their keys in the back seat if they see the cops.

In VA, you have to be “operating,” which means keys in ignition (so don’t turn heat or air on). Also, in order to make you take a beathalyzer it has to be on a “public highway.” Which is vague and could be a parking lot if open to the public, marked lanes and street signs. Best just leave keys out of ignition and pockets.

Interesting, I don’t need to remove the rear backrest seats on my Mazda 3 because they lay perfectly flat when folded flat!

Mazda3 is a different car. More room to engineer seats that fold flat, probably.

Two questions for those of 5’11’’ upward. If you put the front passenger seat as far forward as possible, what’s the max length front to back. Also, instead of replacing the rear seat bottom, is it possible to recline the front passenger seat so its almost flat (and sitting in rear space where rear seat bottom was) to get a longer platform?
@HiroshimaSpirit
@HiroshimaSpirit 4 жыл бұрын
The passenger seat will not recline enough to lay flat. All the way down it creates a step up even from the rear seat bottom. If you scoot it forward all the way and fold the back as forward as it can go, you’ll add at least another foot of space, but then the challenge is making a “floor” that’s level with everything else.

Why not remove the front seat and really stretch out?
@HiroshimaSpirit
@HiroshimaSpirit 3 жыл бұрын
The floor isn’t flat underneath the front seats, but it’s certainly something someone could try on a solo trip. The way I showed still allows the ability to have at least a front seat passenger instead of none.
