I’m from New Jersey, and in elementary school in the 1990s we had an assignment to learn the internet. Go to the website of the state you were assigned, and find basic information like exports, population, governor etc. I was assigned West Virginia, which was literally one single landing page with a picture of th governor and no other information. So my teacher sent me to the library where I had to find an encyclopedia and look up all that nonsense about West Virginia. I held an irrational grudge against WV for like two whole decades until becoming a fan of the McElroys, and Adventure Zone Amnesty specifically, eased that long held hatred. Today, these representatives of West Virginia have reignited my rage. New Jersey is one of the most recognizable state shapes! It’s got a waistline!

I am delighted to see this VOD. One of my favorite things to do as a get to know you thing is to ask people to name all 50 states and spoiler alert maybe 5% of the people I've asked have been able to do it. Everyone is sooooo confident that they know the song from elementary school. They, in fact, do not.

The animaniacs taught me all 50 state capitols, and by extension all 50 states. I don't think I could list them without their capitols though, as I only know the facts in the cadence of the song. 😄

Any type of game tends to loosen people up, there's no stakes to getting it wrong (especially since I always mention that it's very rare that someone knows them all), and once they get to a place where they can't think of more, I offer little clues about the ones they have left so we both get to know each other in that process too.
