High priced processed and frozen food VS lower priced fresh and hearty food. Which one would you choose? Besides the price tag, the food culture plays a very important part here. Vietnamese tend to have a balanced meal with fresh made food and lots of vegetables rather than meals from frozen processed products.

Air pollution, water pollution, heavily contaminated food all contribute to the calamity, over 200,000 new cases each year, with the number of fatalities reaching up to 82,000. Search "Vietnam is among the top countries with the highest cancer rate worldwide, according to a recent International Scientific Conference on Cancer Prevention in Hanoi" undeniable facts so much so that even Commie Vietnamese government officials have to admit it. Meanwhile, feel free to continue breathing that carcinogenic air, eating that "yummy" food, and drinking/cooking with that heavy-metallic water.

The problem with McDonald's in Vietnam is that it's not fast at all comparing to street food. Every bánh mì food stall, if you don't have to take a line so long, I would say they can serve you in less than a minute for each bánh mì. Why spend more time and money for "fast food" that's basically frozen food put in the oven when you already cheap and healthy food all around. To most people live in Vietnam, McDonald's and other fast food chains like KFC, is for special occasions or celebrations only (like a birthday party)

very good point, it just doesn't make sense in Vietnam where the street food is so good and much faster. In USA McDonalds is a cheaper and faster option, its funny to see it the opposite here.

In Saigon, I tried McDonald's and said it was delicious but admitted that for example, a dish is 30,000 dong for a chicken thigh but if bought for a bowl of pho, it's more than full, I mean a bowl of pho, it's enough for one meal. one piece of chicken is not enough to eat, the reason why McDonald's in Vietnam never succeeds is simply expensive.

When they opened McDonalds in Saigon, I was hopping on the train and went all across Vietnam for it. Well worth it.

Agree Saigon MCD at Masteri is excellent. Children were so happy. I thought it was as good or better than Canada MCD in terms of freshness. Also, it is packed with locals- very successful at that location but caters to an isolated international market in Saigon.

Most Vietnamese people don't like McDonald's food. Besides being expensive, it also doesn't suit Vietnamese taste. Foreign brands almost fail in Vietnam. In Vietnam there are so many delicious dishes, I can't list them all, I think you should try Bún Chả, bún đậu mắm tôm, cháo trai, bánh cuốn, bánh xèo, bún bò Huế, bún cua, bánh canh cua, cơm tấm, cháo lòng ,drinks like coffee milk(cà phê sữa), coconut coffee( cà phê dừa),butter ice cream(sinh tố bơ).....

Uhm…mm my dear friend ..let be real..and more careful eat there even with brandname restaurant of states..as overthere foids,meat.,and more all keep in frez not cold enought,and keep long time as ..not sale much…and much many problem…so just bring peptobismol with you in case…ecoli can kill and sick for long time….hahahahhaha….
