Season 1 is by far my favorite of the McMillan and Wife closing credits. I wish Rock Hudson had kept the mustache. The bicycle chase from Once Upon a Dead Man is a memory that's been with me my whole life.

This was when they let composers incorporate the Universal logo music into the end credits cues ("The Bold Ones," "Banacek," "Alias Smith And Jones" and others did that as well).

susan st. james was just gorgeous in those episodes.... sadly, I don't think the personality that her character plays, which is so endearing and lovely and loyal actually exists in real life... the writer or writers who created her thought of an ideal "package" of a woman; funny, self confident yet modest, and so adorable..

By season 6, the girlfriend disappeared and replaced by a "girlfriend of the week" series, similar to Gunsmoke's 20th season, where the girl who starred was promoted "the saloon of the week".

McMillan and Wife, along with Columbo and McCloud during season 1 and additional series in subsequent seasons, was part of a rotation under the umbrella title The NBC Mystery Movie, which had an opening title sequence featuring a theme composed by Henry Mancini.
