I just watched Puss in Boots 2 and when I saw the end scene and heard the Shrek theme play, I got that same feeling I had when I watched Avengers 1. Two incredible separate franchises with their own personalities that tie up together for one big blast that will hopefully end on a good note and won't be milked to death. I had fun watching it. It wasn't perfect or anything, but I really felt like I got my money's worth watching it. I've noticed that DreamWorks films tend to be like that - quality over quantity (with a few exceptions of course).

My biggest problems come down to the villains, they take this amazing line of villains (Wanda, Modok, Kang, Gorr) and force them into the beginning, conflict, resolution template. They could’ve easily had Wanda be the main phase villain (whilst building up Kang) or prolonged the life of many villains. Honestly, I blame many of the directors/behind the scene workers (excluding the people who have nothing to do with it obvi) for fucking this up, the fact they aren’t communicating throughout all of these projects they’re creating is crazy given it needs to be connected. I think this is seen so hugely with the stuff between Wandavision and ST:MoM. Elizabeth went from WV to immediately filming MoM. What did they think was gonna happen? They’d manage to connect these two projects one of which isn’t even out and done yet?? They could’ve given themselves a break. So easily, it’s infuriating

Can I just say, I saw the title and thumbnail and thought, "Great, the algorithm giving me another MODOK funny face with 'MCU bad' as the premise." Started watching, 6 minutes in, easily the most direct and concise expression of thoughts I've seen about the MCU's current problems. Flowing well, great pacing, really really easy to watch and consume.

To all the “Phase 4 is jus like Phase 1” detractors how do you feel now that Phase 4 is over and the first Phase 5 movie was Antman and it’s horrible….

Everyone is just fatigued and desensitized to Marvel now. I use to be HELLA excited about the next Marvel movie coming out and was curious to see how it connected to the other movies and was anxious to see if Thanos would make an appearance! Now, I don’t even pay attention to or even care what Marvel movie or show is out at the time.

The backlash was inevitable...it just came sooner rather than later. This generation is finally starting to realise that it has to grow up and face the realities of life instead of so indulging in much escapist entertainment.

I'm not a huge MCU fan by any means, but I feel like it would be common sense to take a break after the massive event Endgame was. Almost every good series I know of has done so, both to let the team rest and get ready for what's next, and to allow the audience time to revel in the story and to build excitement back up knowing more is coming. Without that, you get fatigue, and a slow burn out. Marvel hit the ground running. They've won the race, passed the finish line, but for some reason they're still running. They aren't even a part of the marathon anymore. They're just... somewhere in the distance. Still running. Any minute now they'll drop from exhaustion and we all know it but there's nothing we can do except to just watch as they get further away and wait for them to finally stop so we can all move on. It's almost sad honestly

Movie-wise in general, Disney is in serious trouble, Dreamworks is about to overtake them at the box office, and possibly even do it consistently

I did laugh at "maybe your arm is in Valhalla". I think some of what's happened to the tone is Disney+ with more people consuming more content on their sofa, they feel the need to keep it family friendly, so everyone can watch. As crazy as it seems I think you can get away with more with a movie being released in the cinema only even when aimed at young people, cos they go without their parents.

I think Disney plus is what’s killing it too many shows and all the films drop on there within a couple months. So many people I talk just wait for it now

the last MCU project that really excited me was WandaVision. I enjoyed Hawkeye and Moonknight, but cannot day I was into it. The movies after Endgame have been SO repetitive. If Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 gets excellent reviews, enthusiastic word of mouth from fans at opening weekend but still flops, then the MCU and superhero movies in general are dead.

I could not agree more that the MCU’s world building is a complete mess. Between the four different geopolitical/ crime factions, four or five different magic systems, at least four different pantheons of gods and mythologies, minimum 3 galaxy spanning alien empires, countless technologically advanced earth bound factions, too many alternate dimensions for me to count, wonky time travel rules, inexplicable primordial forces of the universe and now the poorly defined mechanics of the multiverse there are so many things that fundamentally feel broken in the MCU that viewers have no choice but to turn their brains off a just accept whatever is currently happening. These are just a few examples of the unanswered questions/ plot holes that I can come up with in the spot from just the top of my head: If the Skrulls were part of SHIELD how did they not find out about Hydra and warn Nick Furry? How did the Red Room, Hydra and the Ten Rings all interact? How is witch craft different from sorcery? Is the god’s magic a different kind of magic from sorcery and witch craft? What makes the Egyptian gods different from the Norse gods? What other Earth gods exist? Does the Christian god or Allah exist? Are the celestials considered gods? How is an alternate dimension like the dark dimension different from an alternate universe? Are alternate universes and timelines different from one another? Why didn’t Thanos go after Eternity instead of the infinity stones? How can Thanos destroy the stones in the current timeline without affecting the flow of time like the Ancient One said removing them would? Do the Kree know the Skrulls are partnered with Earth? How do the Nova Corps and the Skrulls get along? Did Thanos ever go to war with the Kree, Skrulls, Nova Corps or Gods? With all the highly adavanced technology produced by Stark Industries, Hydra, SHIELD, Pym Technologies, Asgard, the Skrulls, the DODC and Wakanda why hasn’t the wider world become more advanced than modern day Earth?

Marvel has a very close-minded approach when it comes to their superheroes. They seem to think that in order for something to be serious and earnest it needs to be dry, boring, desaturated and slow. And in order for something to be fun it needs to be humorous, comedic and lowbrow.

The MCU reminds me of dragon ball right now everything is so big and "important" it's makes it feel less important. For example remember when Vegeta with out super Saiyan could destroy entire planets and now he is basically a god but the fights look the same. Same thing with marvel in the first phases the BIG event was Loki trying to conquer earth but now almost every movie is about someone or something trying to conquer/destroy earth so in the end I got numb to it.

It feels like it doesn't really know what direction to take.. and in film making, that's really bad... unless you want that effect (lingering uncertainty).. however, it just feels so exploded, it's lost form.

I was just watching the original Iron Man, the the sound and visuals of the original suit was just amazing!

When my mom and i binged the infinity saga, we both fell in love with it. Guardians 1&2 being delightful movies that we throw on when we see its playing and we want a movie in the background. We were both excited to see what came after endgame, and far from home, FatWS, Wandavision, Loki, and Shang Chi were smash hits. Black Widow was good. The Eternals was long... The breaking point came at episode 1 of Ms. Marvel. I was bored out of my mind, and that's when the good will died. We still intend to watch Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and No Way Home, but aside from that, I have 0 interest in the marvel drivel that's being shoved out now.

I think one of the best points you made was at 22:24, like, I love moon knight as a character and hes probably one of my favorite heros, but he is very much a street level hero. While he has dealt with bigger threats, i feel his story is much more effective if he is more the type to do street level stuff, not this big over the top cgi battle. And im tired of having every story have to be an “end of the world” stales story

The superhero genre is hardcore struggling right now. At some point i thought DC was guna take the spotlight but Gunn announced Creature Commando and a Waller series for the first phase. Like what the hell is that line up? Absolutely nobody wants that. Even the people who do, don’t realize its a terrible choice when attempting to build a universe. I believe Gunn has no idea wtf he’s doing and/or he’s just doing what he wants. Suicide Squad was half a joke, Peacemaker (to quote Rick Flag) is literally a joke.. It’s not the atmosphere i want the overall universe to have.. I want serious threats, serious consequences and situations that require mature thinking. Not some believe in yourself self righteous bullshit. That’s what made Marvel’s early projects so good. The storytelling and suspense leading to each phase to Endgame, was phenomenal.. Now we got teenage girls in charge of super soldier terrorists because “oppression” i think.. And then America Chavez simple had to “believe in herself” to kick Wanda’s overpowered ass.. Its just a big joke nowadays

I never wanted to say this but since they now in shambles, here's some things that I want Marvel to do in order to get back on their feet: 1. They have to cut ties with Disney, I know, sounds crazy but it's true. Ever since Endgame, Disney had someway pressure/forced Marvel into making god-awful content (except some few shows/movies), never allowing them to take any risks on creating good-storytelling anymore, rewriting good characters into unlikable/hateful jerks for no reason and hiring bad writers who clearly don't know the characters very well. They have to end they're distribution deal with them for good and go to another company that can be more truthful than Disney (my vote's on Paramount, possibly Sony or Universal). In my opinion, I never liked the idea of Disney owning Marvel. 'Cause their "family-friendly" brand company and I don't think they're fitful for this type of franchise, but after seeing the disaster that was phase 4, this clearly proves it. 2. They have to cancel the MCU. It's gotten so messy that they should've just let the franchise end in Endgame but choose to continue without thinking this through. But since the damage is done, they're gonna have to cut down the entire content they've put and have to cancel all of the upcoming movies and shows. They have good potential but they have to let them go and move on to do something interesting 3. Reboot the franchise. If they want to continue making movies and shows, they have to reboot the entire marvel universe with an already established universe (like James Gunn's DCU but on their own way) while adding other characters who never appear in the previous universe (like the X-Men, FF, Runaways, Defenders, Young Avengers, Inhumans, Power Pack, etc). But at the same time, think about the timeline to line it up perfectly, hire better writers that actually know the comics, good directors with creative vision, let them have some creative control (not too much control) and try to tackle different genres for storytelling. 4. Create standalone/team-up shows (like the CW's DC shows) or Elseworld anthology shows as a way to tell the stories in a proper way while creating movies for a bigger event in the franchise's storyline.

Phase 4 was when I started to REALLY dislike the MCU. (Not NWH, that was fun af) If they Stuff up Blade or Fantastic Four, that's when you know they really don't know wtf to do anymore. They crossed the line with Quantumania, She-Hulk and Multiverse of Madness. So at this point, I'm about just done with it at this point, and they're just making whatever comes to their head with absolute no love for the material for cash grabs. It really shows that they're desperate to make these films, even when they know that no one is excited to see the films. They're doing quantity over quality, and it's really showing. To me, the MCU ended with Endgame, that's it. No Way Home though was special, THAT was actually good in the Multiverse Saga, but what they're putting out now? It's almost like they're on crystal meth and writing the most basic and stupid stories ever. It should be Quality over Quantity, not Quantity over Quality. Fix your Shit Marvel.
