As a ramper i can say that the workers of the video don't represent our work, in reality and with no cameras we treat the baggage like 50 times harder with kicks and everything. But not bc we want, but bc we are ordered to do what it takes to load the airplane in time.

Yes and no. It really depends. When there's a light load like this, there's hardly any reason to be super abusive with the bags.
@tylersutton1423 жыл бұрын
This couldn't have been any further from the truth. Been working on the ramp for 6 years (for AA) and I've worked many many many flights and never has myself or anyone I've ever worked on a crew with ever treated bags any rougher than what was shown in this video, looks like any ordinary flight that I've ever worked. Not sure if you work for an actual carrier or a contractor but I'd imagine that intentionally being abusive to peoples bags is mostly seen with contractor companies. Not saying that everyone who works for an actual carrier is perfect by any means.. obviously their are some bad apples out there.

@@tylersutton142 you aren’t wrong. I mean I’ve worked for delta, Alaska, and American and this is fairly accurate specially for American. If you have a good lead or someone who has common sense knows to keep the belt loader at a reasonable pace. At American, it was strict that 4 bags only on the belt least in SAT. Alaska was kinda the same but faster and same with delta. There should be no need to kick bags in if you stack correctly.

I do this same job, but here in LAS we feed the bags way faster than this. This would be a dream come true for most of us in our company if the bags were fed this slow. Lol it's a tough job but it pays the bill's. 🤙 Oh and yes, there are turn around times that have to be met so that travelers who check their bags in, don't expect gentleness all the time because the guys on the bottom have a very tough and hard job to do in a professional and timely manner so that you as passengers on the aircraft can get to your destinations on time or earlier. I personally recommend not having anything fragile in your checked in luggage, you should always carry on your fragile items. Oh and another note. Just because you can pack it, doesn't mean you should. Meaning when you travel, travel light.....don't pack your entire house or 3/4 of your house in your luggage lol (sarcasm). Pack light and go home heavy lol makes sense right 🤙 Stay blessed and safe travels everyone.

@timberrr11263 жыл бұрын
LUGGAGE TIPS 1, 2, 3 Tie two or three colored ribbons of different lengths around the handle to your luggage to warn others that this is not their luggage. People grab luggage at the turnstile and take it home before you ever see it. Anywhere you put your bag, it could be grabbed in error. Example: overhead compartment, unloaded from the bus, at the hotel lobby, at the turnstile... Use 1” wide ribbons 14” long. Cut the ends at 45 degrees then seal the end with one drop of Super Glue to prevent fraying. If each ribbon is slightly a different length by 1/2” or so, they will all show up no matter how they drape. Tie the 3 ribbons as a sandwich, as if they were one ribbon. Use a man’s tie, a half Windsor knot for the best look. After it is tied on, the total length of the ribbons will be about 5 inches from the handle. It is too short to catch on anything. You can see this ribbon from 40 feet away. Perhaps tie TWO handles or RINGS top and side of the case. This way, it won’t slide around. This knot does not loosen. Put your phone number on one ribbon using a permanent Sharpie. Example: “Owner 454-333-7878” Choose one ribbon with an unusual pattern or fabric to really make it unique. Stand by the output hole port of the turnstile to reduce the chance of someone else grabbing the piece. Tie your skiies, duffel bag, and what ever with matching ribbons-even your computer case. If you are a Travel Agent, you could hot gold stamp one ribbon with your name and phone number. Send them a set of ribbons, red and blue and BLACK to your customer as a gift. Record this gift in your database so you don’t duplicate yourself. Buy a gold hot embossing machine. Gold emboss your business name on the BLACK ribbon. Put the customer’s name on it if possible. Pleasant color combinations: Red and blue Chartreuse and purple Orange and light blue Orange and yellow Gray and pink Green and yellow Red and Green Red and Gold Light blue and light green The third ribbon could be white, gray, black, tan Tip #2 Take a cell phone picture of the ribbon tied on. Then another picture of the full luggage piece. You now have a way to communicate “what it looks like”. Tip #3 Place a strip of colored duct tape on the inside lining to your case. Put your name and phone number on this tape. If all identity is stripped from your case, you have this to show. If someone steals it and rips off identity tags, you can show the police officer the inside tape.

It looks small door and cargo department but is it completely impossible to fit / twist / turn in a boardbag of this length?
@trenton.tchannel18102 жыл бұрын
My guess is their flights must have heavy baggage load. Where I work we get golf club bags, skis, surfboards, snow boards, bikes etc. We typically have 737-900er which is longer than the-800 but the door sizes are the same so I guess it just they would want extra space to make sure all the bags have ample space to fit.

@larrymurini61097 жыл бұрын
I have never seen a container on a narrow body Airbus, and I have loaded thousands of them. Not to mention the containers add weight and that cost money to every flight. Personally, I prefer the Airbus vs. the Boeing narrow bodies as they have more head room, and tossing the bags to the back are closer due to the position of the bin door with the exception of the forward bin on the A321.
@thomasmuller74847 жыл бұрын
From my experience, the Boeing 737-800/900 is cleary better to load since they have no height limit. The Airbus Aircraft has to have at least 2 inches of room from the highest luggage to the roof. If there is no limit, you can at least fit 15-20% more load. But be aware that the floor can not take too much load anyways. So at the Airbus A320 for example, we usually load 30-35 pieces of luggage per compartment. So that means around 100 piece in the front. But the Airbus is better to work since they are more high. Boeing is a bit more lower. Both have down and upvotes.
