I'm not a pro, but I weld a fair bit. It's rather hard, with stick to lay down beads that look at good and not have them actually BE good. No idea what rods he is using, or if he did some pre heating with the torch, I'm guessing he did. All that to say, those welds will last as long as if any other man or women had laid those beads. The steel he welded to, will probably rot out first.

Worked in a china company long ago. Among the funniest moments Ive seen there was people from below, pushing peoples buttocks up when climbing without proper infrastructure or safety equipment. Also throwing tools up/down onto peoples hands. Its a different kind of teamwork they do. Like dang. Working with them felt really cool. This one guy li jian dong was mid cut on a steel plate and lit a cigarette with a cutting torch inches from his face and continued cutting. Same dude could cut a perfect circle with smooth edges freehand without any tracing with chalk. And usually like half hour before work ends, we just go up to the factory roof and just chilled while letting out sweaty work clothes dry. 10 storeys high above ground level lol. Cured my fear of heights too. Learned the asian squat to a point I can now make do without anything to sit on. Id label that phase as the best years of my life. The first time in my life I felt the validation I never got from my own family. Previously Ive always thought theres something bad with me, but now I know its just that I never got a fair appreciation of my efforts.

Notice that when they realized the parts were too small for the bucket, they cut the part with a gas torch instead of doing the easy thing and grinding down the bucket. That means if something breaks, it won’t crack the bucket, which saves an expensive repair in the future. It shows honesty and clear thinking. You don’t see it all the time.
