KyleNecz ive had to many Problems with Corsair and they're customer service. I'd MUCH rather buy Razer. keyboards are entirely opinionated so you can't say 'this one keyboard is better'

No need refurbished, with that price point it better to add another 30$ for a decent mechanical keyboard. There's no reason to buy 99$ membrane keyboard, the max you spent for membrane is 50$.

Feel, yes. But probably an equal number of people would say they have problems with Razer's quality, esp for the newer models.

Perhaps "curious" but hardly impressive. There's tons of light actuation shallow travel scissor suspended membrane keyboards out there, and they're quite cheap.

Ive owned this keyboard for a few months now. Total honest mini review from me: You will be a faster typer on this, me and another friend can confirm. For gaming "imo" nothing is better, but cherry reds can compete in that area. Chiclet keys are very easy to click down but doesnt get clicked by the weight of your fingers resting. The wrist rest is amazing, feels a little weird at first but now i struggle to type without it =D. The chroma nice and bright. Pretty much impossible to get key chatter which ive had endless problems with using cherry reds. The sound is a satisfying blue switch click but without the clank at the bottom, also sounds like you are typing twice as fast because it clicks on the way down and on the way up. My last keyboard was a corsair strafe red, I had horrible endless keychatter problems, that keyboard was $90 ish, coming from that keyboard i can say the Ornata is EASILY worth the 100. May come across biased because i put cold hard cash down for it, but trust me, its not. If you have ever had problems with mechanical keyboard getting key chatter "double typing", just get this, it gives you a mechanical feel but still unique, satisfying click and never have to worry about chatter.

Im typing on one right now. There is literally nothing wrong with this keyboard being a membrane at this price point. Maybe call it 80 bucks and its a steal. Its very nice for your everyday PC user as well as gaming. Yes over time I'm sure the keys will eventually "mush out". But the mid height key cap and the tactile feel is fantastic. PS Ive owned many, many mechs. With many many switches. So dont sass me :) Its a nice keyboard. Its worth 80 bucks. Pay 20 more. And cry about it while you use your awesome new keyboard.

Worm Wood I managed to get mine online for 80. It's actually going to arrive tomorrow, and I'm super happy I picked it, because apparently it's really good. I really needed to get a better keyboard, and I got a deathadder mouse with it as well. Have you guys encountered any problems at all with it? if so, what are they?

I'm typing on one right now as well. This, so far, is pretty good. The lighting is pretty good, the wrist rest is pretty solid. I didn't even notice that it was magnetic. I thought I had just naturally lined it up perfectly. It looks nice too. I like that the white backlighting plate is more visible from a distance, as opposed to the more inset BlackWidow Chroma light plate. It goes well with my Razer BlackWidow Chroma and Logitech G910 keyboards, which I have leaning against the wall behind my monitor.

Y'all need to go to a store and actually try this keyboard. I own 4 "true" Mechanical keyboards currently, and have owned others in the past. And so far, these feel really nice to me, to the point where I'm likely going to replace my K70 non-RGB with MX Blues with an RGB Ornata once they go on sale. My only concern is the longevity. Razer should've done a test similar to their Blackwidows.

I still think the price is fine. If not, only slightly overpriced. You're not paying for "A fake mechanical keyboard", as its not being sold as that. Nor is it just the same as any other membrane keyboard. First of all, the keyboard as a whole, can last more keystokes than a regular membrane keyboard. The fact it is "half mechanical" lets say, makes the keyboard feel, and sound much nicer. You also pay for your RGB lights, and well designed keys, with a nice white backboard to really show off those lights. There are loads of different preset light options, as well as the option to make your own. The RGB lights also react with the latest games which is an added bonus, and something you wouldnt get for some unbranded $40 mech keyboard. Overall I think the ornata should be retailed at about $10 less than it normally is, but it overall isnt that overpriced as everyone makes it out to be...

i agree and disagree, i agree that the ornata is a pretty solid keyboard, hell im getting it soon, and its good at trying to replicate that feel of a mechanical keyboard, but i just really dont think the price is good, i think it should be priced at 80 dollars then i think it would be a perfect keyboard, other than that, the keyboard its self is good, but i dont think the price is.

The problem with the Ornata is that is it trying to be something it's not, and there is no reason for it to exist. While it can last for more keystrokes than an average keyboard, but that is because it is a high quality membrane keyboard. It doesn't offer any of the advantages that a mechanical keyboard offers except for the tactile bump, and the clicky sound if that is your cup of tea. Rubber-domes degrade overtime, unlike mechanical key switches which will feel odd after a couple of years.

I kind of agree, The RGB lights are cool and all but the click doesnt generate any tactility apart from on the upstroke, and the keycaps are just standard laser ablated caps, while I would have good rubber domes over a cheap mech as usually the switches in the $40 boards aren't the best. The Ornata just isn't priced well at all, at most I'd pay $50 and thats a stretch

I have tried a lot of keyboard from other companies. I had trouble typing on "Gaming" mechanical keyboard. So productivity was not fun trying to type out documents. When I tried this one I knew it was the best of both worlds. Satisfying clicks while gaming and smooth and easy to type for productivity. Now all 5 of my systems (3 for home use 1 for work and 1 for my wife's system) have one. Best keyboard in my pinion ever. When you find something that matches your needs the price is irrelevant. At 99 bucks it's definitely not the most expensive keyboard considering a lot of other keyboards go for 130-200+

If Razer would simply drop the price to 60$ this thing would sell like crazy. the non RGB should be 40$. It isn't even mechanical but it definitely has an appeal with the rare mid cap heights and the mechanical-like bump.

the ornata has the best size and feeling of any keyboard I've used. Two issues. Their keys are not consistent, some keys didn't click for me. The grease magnet coating is an issue.

Dont shoot me for this lol but not ALL razer products are bad... i actually reviewed the ornata myself and it is a good keyboard but its not worth the $100usd... BUT to if the price would drop to say $60ish then it would be a solid choice for a RGB keyboard... So the direction of keyboard was good just over priced...

I've typed on this keyboard and it's phenomenal. I had this and a black widow side by side and I preferred the Ornata to the BW. I know everyone won't but this thing doesn't feel like a membrane to me. It feels like an interesting in between.

I was in Target the other day and we walked by the tech aisle, and I saw a couple Razer products that caught my attention. Behold, the Razer Ornata. I randomly clicked a couple keys and my eyes grew like a child getting ice cream for dinner. The click was orgasmic. I was immediately addicted to typing on it. True story. I never bought it, as I bought a Logitech G710+ a couple years ago, but I would seriously consider buying the Razer Ornata. It is far more satisfying to type than you can imagine (considering it's still truely a membrane keyboard).

Roccat has the option for an audible click in your speakers / headset when key is pressed. Going to actually try it today as miss the Cherry MX Blue click, but not the travel distance. I have the Sova Mechanical TLC Browns, and feel is great, but less feedback than blue both audibly, and physically.

the paclage has a hole where you can access the arrow keys and test the feel, so having to buy blind won't be a problem even if the store you're shopping in haven't put a testing version available

I have this keyboard, and I love it. I wouldn't pass over this keyboard without a good look. I replaced a Cherry Red Corsair Keyboard with this one, because I just couldn't get use to the Cherry Red switches. Guess I'm just to low rent or something, but my typing speed has increased with this keyboard. I also think it looks great. By the way, the noise of the keyboard in this video must of been done by pushing the keys are hard as possible.

Blackwidow TE costs the same as the backlit one. I think giving up the backlighting and numpad is absolutely worth the better switches.

Some people say that it would actually not be a bad as a rubber dome/membrane keyboard if the clickers were removed. It also has n-key rollover in the matrix, using diodes for anti-ghosting like a mechanical keyboard. But don't ever confuse it with a mechanical keyboard. And you shouldn't support Razer by buying it.

Your prices are backwards in the description for the two types of Ornata keyboards and there are no links for the Cougar and CM Devastator keyboards you stated would be in the description.

nicely done review. The one point of contention I have with Razor is the fact that their software REQUIRES that you create a log in, and you need that software if you want to actually do things like change the lighting. You shouldn't have to create a log in and give your data for something you've paid for. Also, having a keyboard recording strokes......attached to a application that you have log into... this just seems like a security nightmare waiting to happen.

I've used keyboards with MX Silent, Red, Brown, and Blue switches, along with QS1's from Steel Series and Romer G's from Logitech. My favourites are still the Reds for typing, followed closely by the Romer G. I just put the Ornata on reserve at Best Buy, so I'll get to try it out in the morning. I can't wait to try it out. And, BTW, the kid's alright. He stays.

BUYER BEWARE. DO NOT BUY! This thing's quality fucking sucks for the price. It's only redeeming factors are the magnetic wrist rest and the RGB. You'd be better served buying a $50 actual mechanical keyboard. The Razer Ornata is so overpriced.

Just because it is a membrane keyboard doesn’t mean it is automatically worse than mechanical keyboards. This keyboard is expensive but so are all mechanical keyboards, and for people that type a lot mechanical keyboards are terrible (except maybe mx blues). Also this keyboard is much quieter than mech keyboards. I suggest you try it before you hate it just because it’s not directly targeted at you, it’s not a mech keyboard and it’s made by razer. And people never complain about 100$ mech keyboard price even though they both get similar high quality.

I had the black widow with green switches at home and immediately bought the ornata after testing it at store. I prefer the sound of the ornata as the domes seem to dampen out the plastic rattle the full mechanical keys make in addition to the click they both make. I also liked that the keys on the ornata do require higher pressure until they start to move and once they start to move the resistance disappears fast until they bottom out. This makes them feel snappier. I also like the shorter total movement distance as I usually end up bottoming the keys anyway and the distance the mechanical keys move seems a bit too much for me. My only complaint is that on my unit the amount of click and resistance is not completely consistent on all keys. On a few (luckily rarely used) keys there is very little click and you get the mushy feel of the normal membrane keys. Maybe the clips doing the click are slightly bent or something.

Hey, I got it. Ofcourse I went to the store and tried all available keyboards there (Cherry mx reds and blues). I never had a mechanical keyboard, and I have to say that the Ornata's keys are the most satisfying to type on (for my preferance) compared to reds and blues (havent tried browns tho). The lighting is amazing due the white underkey template and the spacing of the keys which makes them seem like they float on the light. The wrist rest is also pretty good (quallity and usabillity versa). Only thing that I found a bit annoying after a while is that the keys appera to be a little bit small for my fingers!

i dunno, the ornata IMO only exists as an excuse for Razer to keep the Blackwidow at a high price. I would've loved if they reduce the price of the Blackwidow and introduce a new flagship keyboard that can compete with the specs of the Corsair 200 bucks keyboard.

You always say try before you buy but since when can you do that? I'm in Australia and the only places I know is PAX where you can try them out. Retail stores don't let you try them out unless theres a cut out in the box

bought ornata chroma place x in my hometown then later went to place y for unrelated reason then checked the price on mmyway out and the non chroma was more wxpensive there than i paid for the chroma edition

I get that people are bent on the price of the Razer Ornata but it all comes down to preference, sure you could get a simple mechanical one at half the price but you are paying for the Ornata "Mechanical-Membrane" keyboard, and if thats what you want from the keyboard there is not much to say really.
