I find it funny that it was revealed yesterday and we already have guides and good guides at that (tried most of the dlc indepth since i played ll day but not mechanitors yet)

You can also get genes to be pollution proof and then dump pollution all over the map to protect from raiders (does not help against mechanoids and activity attracts insects)

It's absolutely hilarious when you're playing on a map that has very few actual open areas or it has only one real route in off map... because then you can just dump a whole bunch of pollution packets all over that side and then eventually you'll get it where people will come in to siege you and then choke to death on all the poison gas

Personally I leave my low tier or one mid tier military mechs on guard mode because you never know when your vitally important Mechanist is going to get himself into mortal danger and there goes your fun colloney unless you want to dev mode it up . Having three or four shot gun toting little buddies with you tends to keep that from happening

I absolutely can NOT get my mechanitor to tune to a band node, and also can not control any mechs even though it says they are linked to my pawn's mechlink. SOMEONE HELP PLZ

HI Great video .. What mod are u using to show when clicking bills to show how many materials are needed to build said item? or is it a setting new to the game thank you in advance .

Great video! Something wasn't very clear to me though. Should Mechanitors have a high crafting skill? Does their skill impact their ability to repair mechs or make subcores etc?

Crafting directly influences the speed of the repairs on the mechs, so it's really favorable. Sadly this quite basic detail slipped my attention there lol. It *should* not affect more than the repairs though, cause the higher level cores get produced differently. I am a bit cautious about that though, cause I still have to play with a Mechanitor in a deeper run

If I keep mech corpses in a separate zone can I. 1. Revive them under my colony and not as a hostile mech 2. Effectively jump the tech teirs by owning mechs I'm not supposed to have by scavenging their bodies off the battle field

As far as I know you can only resurrect the mechs your mechanitor originally gestated himself. But feel free to try it out and prove me wrong =)

What I am trying to figure out is how to transfer control of one mech from mechinator1 --> mecainator2 How is that done?

just right click on the mech as the mechanitor of your choice and it lets you change overseer

Can't wait for all the abominations that people are going to come out with mods for mechanitors in the next few weeks... Geth prime army with Cylon Centurions acting as linebreakers, backed up by artillery fire from CIS Hailfire droids, anyone?

My mechs won’t recharge at the recharger they charge for like one second then go back to work and pass out

I had that happen to me as well I changed the zone as it was trying to go to the zone on the other side of the map

There are quests (Raiding ancient complexes) and other opportunities. For example you can find a broken down mechanoid with a mechlink on your map randomly too (it's a wreck with a red flashy light animation). Not sure how many other ways there are, but I read of 4 different ways in total, most linked to quests or to map thingies.

This update is kinda iffy it just does things that mods do way better already no? The Robotics and Androids mods seem simpler than this

Agreed, this seems like a more convoluted way too, the mods are much better than this.

Not entirely, no. In mods, there is no balance when it comes to these, because they are technically just either colony animals with no food or sleep bar, or regular pawns. There is no cost to repairing them, since they aren't mechanoids, they just heal on their own. The only way these mods attempt balance is via being resource expensive, resources are not hard to get in Rimworld, especially if you can snowball. The mechanoids in biotech are balanced, they don't require much of something you can easily get, however, they introduce many different factors, specifically pollution and the management there of. Not only that, but the mechanoids don't have a fixed skill, as the mechanitor improves with further bionics related to mechanoids, so do the mechanoids themselves, as such they go much more smoothly from early to late game.

@@atransarcticfox Robots expanded the robots need to recharge when destroyed they need to be replaced using steel/plasteel when damaged they need to be repaired with steel/etc The pollution is extremely easy to deal with just shoot it to a different tile

@@mrpilkington9710 Biotech robots also need to recharge. They also require steel and TIME to be replaced when destroyed. To shoot pollution to a different tile one requires a huge amount of steel and fuel in the construction of transport pods, for being able to shoot a meager amount of pollution. Furthermore risks retaliation raids / pollution drops / relationship drops. Biotech robots are more balanced. They take more time to produce, more research to produce, and are limited by bandwidth.
