Today all of us are part of the touchscreen generation. As a result we have less face-to-face interactions and our people skills are eroding. There is absolutely no greater skill that can be acquired and constantly worked at, which can have a bigger impact on us personally & professionally than the ability to build an instant rapport with others, whether they are an acquaintance, customer, co-worker, or a total stranger. International consultant and best-selling author of three Customer service books, his latest book, The Customer Service Revolution (Greenleaf Books 2015), instantly hit #1 on Amazon. John works with world class companies like The Ritz-Carlton, Lexus, Starbucks, Nordstrom, Nestlé, Marriott Hotels, PwC, Cheesecake Factory, Progressive Insurance, Harley Davidson, Chick-fil-A, and many more.
John isn’t just talking about it, he lives it, as a very successful entrepreneur of two businesses. John Robert’s Spa, a chain of upscale Cleveland locations, has been repeatedly named one of the top 20 salons in America; and The DiJulius Group, a consulting firm focused on changing the world by creating a Customer service revolution. John will demonstrate how we can make our Customer service our single biggest competitive advantage and make price irrelevant! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Our intent should be to leave the people we come into contact with feeling better then before they ran into us. John's right our people skills our completely lacking - it's up to us to work on that. To make a difference.

Ability to build instant rapport with others is the most important and coveted ability. Every single one has a sign above their heads that says "make me feel important".Happiest people is the one with the most meaningful relationships. People don't listen with the intent of understanding, people listen with the intent of replying. If we want to make a connection our goal must on having the other person leave feeling better for having interacted with us by putting the majority of the focus on them when we are not anxious to tell our story and we could be present with someone thats when the magic happens. The greatest gift you can give anyone is the gift of your attention FORD Family Occupation Recreation Dreams ALWAYS GIVE MORE in every relationship

What if people don't feel comfortable talking about their occupation. I don't like asking people about their job because this is a very shallow way to put people in boxes and label them. We have to be more imaginative than that.
