An agouti is like a big guinea pig or a small capybara ❤️

First saw an agouti in southern Mexico, thought it was a capybara at first but moved like a house cat!

Know what else does everything you just mentioned...a squirrel. They can jump more than 5 feet in the air vertically and almost 10 feet horizontally. What makes a squirrel more amazing is that they are literally less than half the size of an Agouti. Squirrels can also rotate their back legs 180 degrees to be able to hang upsidedown on trees or make super-fast turns. I am glad to see someone bringing these amazing animals to light. They are so much much more intelligent and even more so, beneficial to the ecosystem, than most people care to know about and that is unfortunate. I have met people who think hampsters are smarter than a squirrel and that's cause they don't know anything about wild rodents, only the things about domesticated ones. It's a shame and I wish people could see how fun and amazing these animals can be. Our squirrels...all 15 generations of them, love it when we put whole walnuts, pecans, and hazelnuts out in their squirrel boxes. Only nuts in the shells though, of course! We never feed them peanuts, those are actually not good for any rodent contrary to popular belief. They have no beneficial fats and are loaded with bad fats. They are a legume after all, not a nut! It's like feeding the animal pure cholesterol and can make them obease. Good job! Delilah is an impressive little lady!
