I am a stay at home mom. Thought I would go back to work and realized I couldn’t. My husband was a student and he had no idea how we would survive (neither did I) but I just knew I could not miss this precious time. And 2.5 years later I’m still here with him cherishing this time ! We are figuring it out day by day but i believe when you have a vision or dream that aligns with your heart life supports you in infinite ways big and small.

Happy for you! He is adorable and so happy! Just know that if you need to make the choice again and give Max privacy as he grows, I think everyone will still support you and your choices. Max is so cute! I appreciate your thoughts about filming him, I think it's so important you are aware he is a person who deserves respect even though he's still a baby! I think there's definitely a middle ground with filming too. You don't have to be focusing on him all the time and are still able to be respectful about it. I see a huge difference in parents who are constantly filming there kids, asking what they're doing etc. or parents who just let their kids be part of the channel but still focus on their own life, work or projects. Just to say that you can still be true to yourself and your values while also filming him.

Just a heads up, showing your kid online will open doors for ppl who are not good and use it for bad stuff. There are multiple docus on youtube showing how the most innocent pictures and videos are used on explicit websites. I don't want to tell you what to do at all, just inform that not all ppl are nice. I think an important point of discussion is one of a home birth. I understand peoples desires to have their child in a less stressful and chaotic environment than a hospital, and i love the optimism of the birthing process going perfectly, however, many compilations can arise during the birthing process, and after the baby is born as happened in Dana and Maxs case. The speed at which these complications are dealt with can make a difference in the outcomes for both mother and baby and sometimes having your child in a hospital/healthcare setting can make a difference. For anyone considering a home birth please heavily weigh the risks you are taking. I am in healthcare and when you understand everything that can go wrong, it makes you more inclined to consider that option. I am sure/i hope dana and lou thought about these thing prior to having a home birth and i hope they had an emergency plan for the worst case scenario if you decide to go this route. My goal is not for a debate, but rather to bring awareness to the risks (vs the benefits) of home birth, and welcome a kind discussion on the topic, and/or thought process from dana and lou. I quite like dana and lou, i think the way they live their life is beautiful and i am thankful they share it with the world to inspire others. There is an immense amount of vulnerability and bravery in this, and i respect how they put all their decision out there for the world to see. I just dont want anyone to think i am attacking dana and lou, because im not. because you can like someone and still have a different opinion than them :)

I would just like to add that some of the mistakes I’ve seen other KZfaqrs make while sharing their child(ren), and more of their personal lives on their channel, is disclosing way too much location stuff like what town they live in, then you see them at their kids school, you see them walking thru their neighborhood, they film at their place of employment in the town where they’ve told you they live, etc. I think as long as you’re protective of those details AND as Max gets older honoring his feelings/wishes around being on the channel -you’ll be just fine!

My babies are 37 and 34 now and it seems like it was just yesterday that they were born. I enjoyed every minute of every day and my "babies" and I are still very close. Keep up your good life.

I got choked up as you talked about motherhood. I am so happy to hear your perspective. He really is the coolest kid!

You won't regret this decision. We missed capturing the first few years of our kids lives. That's actually one of the primary reasons we run our KZfaq channel, is to intentionally capture our kids as they grow up. Even though I was a videographer, in the early years of our kids lives, I didn't do a good job capturing photos and videos. But now with doing KZfaq full time we have stacks of hard drives of them as they grow! Its an investment into memories. My 85 year old self will thank me someday, and I'm sure you will also. And Max is beautiful!

Hello Max nice to meet you. My brother who was older than me of six years was born with a clubfoot. I remember when he turned sixteen he had a op to lengthen his leg and remember him being in a cast and on crutches. He never let his disability get him down when he was young. His friends at school even told me about how he never let anything get him down and he did sports. He later became a corporal in the army a lovely person. He died in a car accident at the age of 33 years, to me he is my hero.

No other KZfaqrs I know are as thoughtful about this decision as you. They have a baby and it's all on camera, right away. I love that you took your time, that you considered options, and share your journey. Also, seeing your mom glow and nesting Dana is such an inspiration to me. Thank you both.
