Miles Mason Family Law Group Senior Attorney Joseph W. Smith is originally from Nashville, married and a proud father. An experienced family law litigator and speaker, Joe served as Chair of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Family Law Section and is a member of the Memphis Bar Association Family Law Section. In 2021, the Memphis Business Journal honored him with its 40 Under 40 Award and in 2023 named him “Best of the Bar.” He also attended the prestigious ABA Family Law Section’s Trial Advocacy Institute. Joe graduated from the University of Memphis and Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, and he serves the community by fundraising for the law school and serving on the U of M’s Alumni Association board of directors. He also serves on the Memphis Bar Association’s Board of Directors and the National Bar Association Ben F. Jones chapter Board of Directors. Joe Smith has been selected to the 2022 Tennessee Rising Stars list from Super Lawyers. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.
