I'm just curious, why did everybody so have much respect for him? He was fat. He was fat because he chose to be fat. He barely had an NFL career because he put food before everything else in his life. I just don't get it. It's like having respect for a chain smoking marathon runner who never made it in the professional running circuit because he couldn't stop smoking, but it was cool to watch him coughing and weezing when he ran.

RIP Jared. But yeah, I don't really see the problems at first. I guess they are worried about physical toughness due to the hits you take in the NFL. Maybe they are worried about their player's health fading due to obesity. But part of the power in a QB's throw is based on their own body weight. Apparently Jared could bomb it all the way up to the nosebleed seats in NFL stadiums.

I play for a really small arena football team, so half of the players have to play like 3 positions in one game. Little story time: We played a game wich we won 87-24, really big blow-out game. And then the coach told me to make a qb-sneak for and extra point. And I made it. My qb career so far. I'm learning the tight end position too, because my catching skills are one of the best between my teammates, but I'm slow as hell with good stamina. I mentioned my coaches to play fullback sometimes, but I'm too tall (183 cm I'm hungarian and I don't know how to calculate the american heights), but I'm able to play qb, I just have to learn a lot.

I don't understand why you WOULDN'T want a large QB. He's harder to tackle, can still run decently fast, throws just as good as any QB and can probably stand up to the linemen and just stiffarm the fuck out of all the twigs. Personally I'd take the guy.

This guy literally threw a backwards pass for a completion when he was in Kentucky. Despite being close to 300 lbs during his college and NFL career, he showed elite level of effort and athleticism. This dude had a cannon for an arm and I wish he could have found a way to get his weight in control, and get a legit chance at being a starter.

I remember watching UGA games vs Kentucky when they had Jared Lorenzen. It was the strangest sight. You'd have big 5 star defensive lineman run up to him... and they were like "okay, now what?" Usually they'd just sort of hug him and hold on until enough people could gather to bring him down, like a pack of lions hunting an elephant. But Jared was really good at slinging the ball for completions even when under attack like this. Crazy.

@@blightyx7142 Nimble on his feet, excellent ability to judge a field, literally willing to help a fucking runningback by rushing up and offering block support, and a guaranteed yard gain on sneak due to his sheer brute force. He had plenty of talent, just no one helped him hone his abilities due to his weight making him literally and figuratively too big of an investment for coaches to make, no matter how well he could throw. I genuinely believe he could've been one of the greats.
