I have many Boston symphony records with Ralph Gomberg playing and Harold Gomberg has always been my favorite Symphony soloist as well, as he doesn’t have as many solo albums, but the few recordings of him playing solo is a straightforward sense of simplistic beauty and lovely tone coloration and phrasing.

Oh.... i remember the out pouring of devotion to Bill Bennet, the oboist. I was occasional ticket buyer of the symphony but i of course never focused on anyone member. I was totally stunned by the city outpouring for this guy. He apparently was very generous with his time.
