Brian Linehan's City Lights

6 жыл бұрын

From 1974 to 2000, Canada’s Brian Linehan conducted thousands of in-depth interviews with the greatest actors and directors from over 60 years of film history. His programs City Lights and Linehan have not been seen since they first aired and are now available for the first time for licensing. Linehan, a stylishly gifted broadcaster, meticulously did all his own research and that, coupled with his knowledge and passion about film and film-making, puts him in a class all by himself.
With 20,000 hours of music footage spanning 90 years and thousands of hours of in-depth interviews with the 20th century’s icons of Film and Television, Politics, Comedy, Literature, Art, Science, Fashion and Sports, Reelin’ In The Years Productions is now the World’s Premier Source For Footage Of Musical Artists, Entertainers & History Makers.

Note: these clips are available on KZfaq for producers, directors, researchers and clearance companies for potential use in their projects. Our website on the screen is to protect the footage from being used without our consent and so industry professionals can find us to properly license the footage.
Brian Linehan, who passed away in 2004, left his entire estate to The Brian Linehan Charitable Foundation to provide training, work opportunities and promotion for young actors of exceptional talent. All of the income of his Foundation is donated to not-for-profit institutions for that purpose. In the decade since his death, recipients of the Foundation’s support have included extraordinary young actors affiliated with the Canadian Film Centre, The National Screen Institute of Canada, the Stratford Shakespearean Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, which, since Brian's passing, has preserved and housed Brian's personal archive and tape library.

When you watch “When Harry Met Sally” with commentary by Rob Reiner, Billy Crystal and Nora Ephron, you begin to appreciate just how amazing an actor Meg Ryan is. Nora in particular was pleased by the way Meg interpreted the script and the facial expressions she brings, that really nails the comedy. Next time you watch it (and yeah, I *know* there will be a next time) watch her closely and listen to the words. The words are very funny, but Meg’s visual interpretation is just brilliant.

It's kinda sad to see young celebrities before they are corrupted by the system and discarded -- Ms. Ryan barely resembles her former self after years of plastic surgery which was probably done out of insecurity because of ageism and sexism in Hollywood.

Yes, it is very sad. Considering the fact I didn't exist, (wasn't born/an idea) I look back at videos dating back to her peak of fame. She is my old celeb crush, because of her 1980s-1990s movies. It's also sad to see people do things based on others word of mouth, or as you said done out of insecurity because of ageism and sexism in Hollywood, pressuring you to do stuff that could ruin yourself (plastic surgery).

Thats her problem no one forced her . Its like in sport no one forces you to take stimulants but if you one to keep up whit the competiion especialy as you get older you start to do it . She become what she is thanks to what she looks like , as she gets older that asset fades . But thats life and life isnt fair.

I almost couldn't believe the guy was able to get away with saying to the girl "...you got great legs you got to flaunt them..." Man... things were looser back then with some things you could get away with saying. I get the feeling if somebody said that now it might not go so well.

I can't tell if she was on something or just very giddy/nervous. I will say, despite her jitters she had a very obvious charisma and special quality ("Star power") that is rather spell binding. It's not even that she's a great beauty - though obviously she was stunning- and poised, she just has this certain captivating charm. I think most (all?) "stars" today utterly lack this. And yes the interview was scripted and less than natural (and Meg's laughter was quite forced/theatrical) but watching it makes me miss the eras when being a star meant one almost literally radiated.
