The Mega Drive Mini II was recently released and I've been having a closer look at the little console! It includes 61 games, many of which didn't reach our British shores, and a few others that never got released at all before!
Does it stand up to its predecessor, the Mega Drive Mini?

Many of what you consider to be "botton of the barrel" games are quite highly regarded by many people.

Each to their own, really. Would definitely advise checking ahead what games ya might like with any micro console.

Nice video. I've picked one up with the Mega CD 2 from Japan. I'd say my 5 favourite games on there are Earthworm Jim 2, Ecco 1 + 2 (Mega CD), Rainbow Islands Extra, and Night Trap (Mega CD)(hilarious and cheesy).

Now I can just imagine if Sega would make a Master System Mini, or even another Genesis/Mega Drive Mini that is based on the US-exclusive Genesis Model 3 and maybe even include 32X games on it too (despite the normal Genesis 3 having many incompatibilities including no 32X support).

They won't make a Genesis Mini 3, Okunari ruled it out on twitter.

Here the issue is not much the mini console itself, but rather the fact that you dislike Mega Drive classics like Thunder Force IV, Phantasy Star 2, Robo Aleste, Shadow Dancer and Super Hang on. At least a couple of those games defined the console itself in the 90s. On the other hand you put Sewer Shark in your good game list, so at the very least it is safe to say that you have very unique taste and SEGA probably could hardly ever make a console for you. Talking about the controller, there is an issue that nobody mentions in reviews and I have found both on this and on the previous MD mini, the D-pad tends to remain stuck in one direction at times. It does not happen on all controllers, but considering I found the problem on both my mini consoles I would say it is probably a systematic failure.

Sewer Shark is an interesting relic but its a total POS game. some of the worst gameplay ever.

I'm surprisingly impressed by this little beast. Some Mega CD games, the nice looking controller, and the menu that looks like it's out of a Dreamcast. I know you wanted Sonic 3 on the list but there's at least 2 other great Sonic games in there so i think it's okay. Thanks for the review.

I also agree we definitely *NEED* a Saturn Mini. I might be the only one on earth but i so much wanna play Virtual Hydlide again once in my life.

10:10 In this screen, there are some of the best Megadrive / CD games.... Half are at least good, some are excellent...

Even if half of them suck(that is a little relative to taste) still better to get that much with half good and half mediocre to bad games instead of just getting 25 or 30 at best with at least 3 to 5 sucking. You get more good games and more games in general.
