I remember I pulled the original error art when I was a little kid when magicians force first released. I had literally no idea what I had because I never went to locals and couldn’t watch the anime because I was so poor we didn’t have tv anymore. I have no idea what happened to it at this point but it makes me so depressed every time I think about it

This was my favorite card as a kid. When I asked my parents what they had done with my cards they said they had thrown them out. I had the pieces of exodia, a 5 headed dragon, injection fairy lily, Harpie dragon. It's not even the money, the memories of getting those cards are strong memories to me. Just to be thrown out... Makes me remember to cherish what I do have from childhood.

Honestly, I wouldn't even be mad at the original print, that artwork was awesome compared to the one it should've had imo

I traded my Dark Paladin in, I remember it took almost 4 months to get the "correct" version. At this point it'd be with the rest of my collection, in a box in my attic. Guess I should go looking for it.

God, I remember this happening. I was super young at the time, but a card having multiple artworks was such a big deal to me back then. Especially when there was so much mystery around it. Thanks for bringing back some nostalgia Cap!

I've had this dark paladin card for a long time, but I didn't know that the art was a misprint, I just assumed that it was the original art

Of the three artworks of my namesake, I prefer the DMG (with Dark Magical Circle) version and I honestly wish it was the "main artwork" for Dark Paladin. It certainly works well for circular avatars like what I'm using right now.

I prefer the Dark Paladin with the magical circle in the background than the intended one,I got Paladin years after magican's force,but the one on the box from yugi decks.Great video man.

It just occurred to me that Dark Paladin can’t exist in Rush Duel because it’s materials are both LEGEND monsters.

Still own the original promo version of the iconic Dark Paladin art card with its Ultra Rare. Sure, I was pissed it wasn't the ' real' art, but I figured I'd trade for it in the future. Also yes, DMG was the main card to grab and became awkward when my buddy & I would pull packs til 1 have 1 while he got none.

I think it is important to emphasis finding the card in near mint condition. Most kids back then didn't even know what card sleeves were let alone using them. Not sure if it became available later on but I got the Sorcerer of Dark Magic card from going to see the movie back in the day. That card is barely in one piece not only because I played using it all the time but because I'm pretty sure it went through the washing machine at one point. Even if 1000 of those cards existed most of them would be lost to time, super worn out or thrown away at one point.

I ike the art of Dark Paladin with the Dark Magical Circle on it, just looks cooler in my opinion.

Damn that's crazy that the 1st edition corrected version is that rare. I love the art of my misprint, and preferred it over the corrected art. I don't think I would have traded it had i known though, I still like it more despite the price difference.

I remember getting a Yata out of a booster pack and trading it at a tournament. The haul I got raised my deck by multiples, but now I wished I hadn't done it.

I don't have the error one but I remember my friend did. We thought it was the only card at the time that could rival blue eyes in terms of awesomeness. I wonder if he still has that card or if it has been lost to time like so many others.

I remember getting this artwork of dark paladin with the yugioh duel master guide as a Christmas gift from my mom who sadly passed away 17 years ago and I miss her so much so I have a yugioh marathon to honor her memory since we watched the anime together and she always asked me questions about the characters, cards, & everything else about the show

There was a card shop that sold the ocg structure decks during this era, and I got my hands on yugi’s with dark paladin. Still have it to this day.

I had no idea that the Duel Master's Guide was a set!! I just found the DVD a few weeks ago at my local 2nd&Charles; I thought of it as an "oddity" and went ahead and got it to add to my collection. Finding out that it was originally part of a set that included 2 decks and a special version of DarkPaladin just makes me feel even more proud to have it as a part of the collection!

I still own my Dark Paladin from Magician's Force. It's in very good condition since I was only 10 at the time. I am lucky that it is in that condition.

I will never forget pulling this card in the Walmart parking lot. I was so upset it didn’t look like the card on the booster pack. My friend nicks mother walked me back into Walmart while literally holding my hand and demanded I get another pack for free. I got the pack, and handed all of the cards to a Walmart employee completely unaware of the horrific mistake I was making. I will never ever forget doing that. I was eight years old

Hmm I remember having one back in the day. I had a friend I always played with, and he moved away when his moms job made her relocate. I gave him my entire collection since I never had anyone else to play with. Really hope Erik still has it and still enjoys the game.

I got one of the first edition with the "wrong" art. I didn't trade it in cuz it was special since I pulled it and I liked the close up art better. It was my fav card and thus is not exactly in great condition now...

I am grateful to be able to say I own every 1st ed MFC Foil in PSA 9 that include DMG and both Dark Paladins. I am glad you brought to light how rare the card actually is. Also, people fail to realize that MFC was one of the least printed DM sets and that only furthers how hard it is to get these cards now

I've always wondered why the WCT games eventually changed out the Dark Paladin art. Figured they were updated with some Japanese variant. Didn't realize it was because the original Magician's Force copy was a misprint, even though I had both the first edition MFC and Limited DMG versions. Afterall, the original starter deck versions of Blue Eyes, Red Eyes, and Dark Magician looked no different than their booster pack counterparts, so I never questioned why those two Paladins looked the same.

Dark Paladin is my favorite card, to the point where I built my first deck around it. I still have that old deck and went to double-check my copy after watching this. I still remember opening the pack I got it in, so I wasn't surprised to see it wasn't first edition. Still, this was a wild video to watch on the off-chance I was sitting on gold all these years.

speaking of old cards..Still got my original LOB red eyes B dragon from like 2002. Amazing to think ive kept up with all of my old high school cards through my time in the military from 2006-2012 up to now in 2022. Its still a near mint card. Along with hundreds are holofoils, and the binder i bought at the charlotte regionals in like 2004-2005. Lot of memories in those cards.

I just seen your video. I have a DMG-001 Limited Edition Dark Paladin with the dark magical circle. That I found in 2007, in Wal-Mart of all places. It was in a collectors box in the customer service section. I just happened to see it when I was walking by. It's a great addition to my deck.

I still have my own Secret Rare Dark Paladin from the Beginner's Guide Box Set in near-mint condition. I don't intend to ever sell the card in my lifetime, but it's insane to think that the first run of my favorite artwork of the dragon-slaying spellcaster was put in a core booster set due to an error. Wow, that kind of feels like a reverse version of the MMORPG Guild Wars when they had their first chinese new year event in 2007, where people got a Miniature Pig (basically a resized pig mob) as a cosmetic pet-summoning item, which was arguably pretty common. but every CNY after that had their respective zodiac animal reuse the same model mesh but the textures were celestial-patterned. however during 2008 (and *ONLY* during 2008, the Year of the Rat), there was an NPC who'd let you trade 5 Miniature Pigs for 1 Celestial Pig...yeah. 👀 I think people just hoarded their original pigs. the game is an old MMO, so by the time they got through 7 CNY events, the 8th one-onwards just gave a currency that you could trade for any of the other Celestial pets, even those that technically hasn't got an event. (Pig, Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon had events).

I have both copies of the 1st edition Dark Paladin. The mis-print I purchased myself when I bought a booster box back in the day. And The corrected one a couple years ago, when I bought out a friends collection who was getting out of the game to start a family. And I just learned that card is worth more than I paid for the whole collection.

Funny, I never knew this. Just assumed they had multiple cards, as it was common with many card games and like many yugi-cards do now. I still have my Limited Edition, with the wrong art I guess. Never knew about the send back thing, but I like the close up better.

i know the ´´fail or misprint´´ about that card for a long time and i am so happy to have one (1st Edition, top mint) in my binder. and the (misprint-)art looking way better than the normal one imo

I have one from the original YuGiOh beginners guide movie thing and a few from the duel terminal re-release.

I was one of the lucky few that pulled Dark Paladin with the misprint art. I recalled it as one of my best Yu-Gi-Oh memories at my locals. Back then I remember my locals would hold an event every new set where participants would pay 20 bucks to get several packs plus a promo (if it is around). And build a deck with those cards to duel with. With even more packs depending on the results. I remembered I was so pleased to have pulled THY Dark Paladin which was the first card I ever pulled that was featured in the pack. Since then I took great care of this one card, and even sleeved it. And since I can't even use the card, plus the fusion summon back in the days were god awful, I kept it safely in a box and mostly just forgotten about it over time. What happened with the card now? Sadly I sold the card off for about 100 bucks around 2014-2015 to a collector in mint condition, not knowing of it's value until now. But hay not exactly beaten up about it, the money then went to purchase "THE NEW CHALLENGERS" booster box. Was it worth it and what did I get? Well, funny story from a single box I pulled 3x Qliphort Scout, and 3x Qliphort Disk (which were also extremely expensive at the time). My friend offered to trade his entire Shaddoll/lightsworn deck plus his extra deck which was valued to be around 1000 dollars if I traded the entire Qliphort set I had plus my only 3x copies of skill drain and 3x summoners arts. I accepted his offer, I personally liked the designs/gameplay of the shaddolls pretty neat. And as everybody knows, it came to no surprised that Qilphorts were quite dominate. My friend did go on to destroying my locals, I simply just liked playing what I liked regardless of winning or not.

In 2013, way before the TCG cards hype, I bought the 1st Edition Dark Paladin with the OCG artwork, because I liked that one more. Believe me or not, I only payed 7,50€ with a condition of "Good" which was enough for me. Now I'm even more proud of this gem. :) Good Video!

I really wish I got into the game early on in its history. I was born in 96, so I would've been 5 or 6 at the time of the TCG in america starting to pick up steam. I have some expensive cards in my collection, but nothing worth over 100 dollars as far as I can see. I could've gotten some real gems in early packs if I got into the game young.

I still have mine. I remember I had broken my leg so I wasn't really able to do much which is what got into the card collecting in the first place. Pulled it from a single pack at 7/11 and was like Holy Crap this cool. Fast forward to 3yrs ago when I was short on cash and thinking of selling my cards(which had been in a box in my closet for 10+yrs) and I started researching prices. Imagine my surprise when I realized the artwork was different and what that eventually meant.

I got a DMG version of Dark Paladin, but not from DMG. Unlike the Walmart cube things that would rip you off, the Dark Paladin I got was fully displayed in the top right corner of the plastic packaging with the 6-8 booster packs displayed in the open so you knew what packs you were getting. It’s also how I got my Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

I was one of those kids who received the error print card 1sted NM in a booster box my Tio had bought me for my 10th birthday. Today I still own that card alongside several others such as NM Dark Magician girl PSA graded 10. By far the only PSA I currently have right now that I got done in 2013, hard to believe the error print would be worth this much for the apprentice. Either way Dark Paladin is such an iconic card and would still be used to play today in the game. I wish there would be an updated xyx or new effect and support cards surrounding that boss monster but there really isn't what I think makes the value of this error card worth twice as much. @megacapitalg love your videos!

My first Dark Paladin was from the japanese structure deck. I remember it being a big deal and then on a vacation i saw it at a kiosk and bought it thinking i was getting some pre-release.

I actually have both dark paladins from mfc 1st edition. Truly a gem

the alt version that was redeemed, it is rarer. but the original art that was released first is what all the kids from back then remember. therefore, it's more nostalgic. When taking into considering the rarity of the first version, but also the fact that all the kids that grew up with yugioh not even knowing about it... it almost makes the value of both cards.. the same. Right now the buyer's demographic of yugioh is made up of the kids from back then, they wouldn't have known about the option to redeem for the alternate art most likely as they're just kids. As yugioh demand is now fueled through nostalgia, the nostalgic value of the original is actually, much higher

I still have my Dark Paladin, but I'm not sure which edition it was. It was either the 1st Edition or Limited Edition of the "error card." All I can remember was that it was in a random booster pack between a piece of cardboard and clear plastic front. It showed the back of a Yu-Gi-Oh! card, so you didn't know what it was until you opened it. I was stoked to get it, and I immediately threw it in my deck because I run a Buster Blader and Dark Magician.

I remember pulling the mistaken art work and seeing in the beckett magazine that you could send in the card to get it replaced. I kept mine. Its in a binder somewhere. Around the time Magician's Force was released my local kmart had a new yu-gi-oh tin in. It was the OCG (japanese) tin with Paladin on the front with Beast of Talwar promo card. I was so confused on why kmart was selling japanese product in the states.
