Happy NABDay some more all over again!
I still want to work on this more, but it's late and I didn't have any more time to work on it. So, here's a cover of Megalovania, on an OPL3!

It's the high instruments where OPL3 suffers, the lower range of the chip is fantastic

@@ratix98 Adlib Tracker 2 itself comes with a ton of old tunes if you can find it. I used to run it off a floppy disk(!) in college, on some of the last computers that had floppies and opl3's

Really my only problem with this is the drums aren't loud or noticeable enough. Other than that, excellent take on Megalovania!

You can't imagine what drums YM3812 is really capable of. Of course it does not reach to PCM samples but it can do quite good. When I have completed my little game project I will upload one or two tunes from it on pc-sound-legacy here on youtube. In the meantime check out Diode Milliampere's work

wow, thats pretty accurate to the original. also sinewave-ish E-4 with commands 290 A0A makes a great sounding kick drum on FM.

because megalovania is also based on 8bit instruments, like saw wave, square wave, smooth saw, overdriven guitar (i think), and other stuff. same for other undertale songs

The UI is Adlib Tracker II. Apart from the DOS version, there is also an SDL version that emulates an OPL3 quite nicely for Windows, and it also runs great under Wine for Linux.

Request: could you make a decent version of Vampire Killer for the OPL3? The one included with the infamous dos port of Castlevania sucks :(

linoxyard castlevania chronicles fm is an excellent version

ratix98 That version has a different arrangement, and it is made on the OPM chip, not the OPL2

Are you talking about recording old DOS game music? Or making music for new games? I already do the former, but the latter is not likely to happen for a very long time, if ever.

linoxyard Actually, that's one thing I'm trying to avoid. To me the beauty of this is to milk 2op for all it's worth. Plus, sticking with 2op means thre are extra channels for adding echo. This track was rushed so unfortunately it isn't as polished as it could be. Some of the sounds are a little...eh. I intend to revisit this and fix it eventually.

NAB622 Alright, fair enough. I asked because there are very few people that do 4op instruments on the OPL3, and I think it sound much better than 2op

linoxyard Oh I agree, 4op sounds phenomenal. But most people don't even use 2op to its potential either. Square and sawtooth waves can make some really great sounds with FM, and that's only the beginning.

@@pillsburydeathboy4487 Hey, if it's free, give it a shot! If nothing else, just play the sample tracks in AT2, they sound much better played straight from the card. And there's a lot of neat techniques used in them too.
