I can't thank you enough for all these videos while I'm learning and building a turbo Vr6. You've helped me with my idle, with my ignition timing, with my fuel table, with my boost controller now. I've still got a lot more to do so I'm not done! Tank you

This is a great video. I watched it twice and I enjoyed how you showed the diagram, Tuner Studio, and the real version.

Hey man, thanks for the video. I have a 1JZ VVTI swapped RX7 that uses a MicroSquirt. The VVTI is unplugged and unutilized, however after watching this video, I was wondering if I can use the boost control settings to control the VVTI solenoid (I have a greddy profec boost controller independent of the ECU) Since the VVTI solenoid also has a frenquency and is typically controlled by TPS x RPM, I think this can work. Theres VVTI calibration tables online… now the only thing is that my FIDLE is currently used by something else. Is that my only PWM control for boost control? Or is there other PWM controls I can use? Thanks

Any chance you'd be open to doing some one on one consulting on my setup?

Car: '91 RX7 TII, Microsquirt ECU. I'll be using the FIDLE for the idle control. Which is the next preferred pin to use? The stock ignition will use IGN1, 2, and WLED for Select (Spark C). I ultimately will run a Flex sensor and knock control. Are there enough pins to run all these functions?

On the microsquirt you can use fiddle, tachout, aled and wled for boost control. You can try ALED in your situation

My wastegate is a side port only, spring is 10 psi. Let's say I enter 70 for throttle % >= 50 and RPM >= 4K. Is the max boost 17psi?

Doesn't setting it to 100% in the lower areas hold it fully closed and increase spooling?
@TurbineResearch

Yes it can but that’s in the advanced video :) this is the basics just to get up and running

Great video. I’ve watched a few others on this topic and they mention running 100% DC in the lower RPMs to improve spool. Would that reduce the life of the solenoid?
@TurbineResearch

I guess it depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the tuning. These solenoids are very reliable and I don’t think you will hurt the solenoid by using it more during transient conditions

@@TurbineResearch Thank you. I’m just trying to understand all this before messing with the boost control. I’m going to follow the approach in your video first. For single port wastegates, does the same math apply where 50% DC would result in 12psi on an 8lb spring?

Thats what i do.it’s one of the main reasons to have an electric boost solenoid.Just becarefull on your cross over cuz its ez to over boost before you get down to your desired boost.

This motor doesn't have any knock monitoring. However, the tune was verified safe on a dyno at this boost level
