Anji Bai Cha is one of China’s most revered Green teas with a big price tag. Is it a snob tea or is sipping this famous Chinese Green worth every penny?
We visit Anji in China to source the most Supreme micro-batch of Anji Bai Cha and teach you how this first flush tea is picked and produced so that we can finally answer the question - is Anji Bai Cha worth your cash?
TRY THIS MICRO-BATCH OF ANJI BAI CHA (Jade Sword Supreme): meileaf.com/p/tea-ajsc
Despite many people wrongly thinking that this is a White tea (because of the character ‘bai’ which means ‘White’ in Chinese), Anji Bai Cha is a Green tea which has a relatively modern history. It started being produced in significant quantities about 30 years ago and since then, this tea has risen as one of the must-have teas for any tea lover.
The problem is that with reputation comes a snob value and connoisseurs in China are fuelling hefty price tags in their fight to get the best Anji tea every spring
.
As always in tea, there are many different quality levels in Anji Bai Cha and there is a lot of cheaper tea out there being sold at hiked up prices. So, we went to Anji to show you what the absolute top of the pile tea looks, like, how it is made and how it tastes so that you can make more informed buying decisions when choosing your Green tea.

Nice honest review. Always glad to hear a "not necessarily" when asked about the value. You've either talked me in to or out of a sale, I'm not sure which. 😂

A friend of mine gifted a box of this to me in Shenzhen two weeks ago. I hadn't been expecting much from it, but my wife and I were struck by how amazing it's flavour was.

Hello Don, I'm a new subscriber and your channel is great with lots of information for any person interested in the world of tea. The quality and passion you put in your videos is excellent. I would love to see a video on Shincha (varieties, history, etc.) and also a video with the differences between fukamushi and asamushi steaming (the teaware you need for fukamishi, etc.). Thanks a lot for all the enthusiasm and information you share with us!

Good video. Hardly noticed how the minutes passed by. Very captivating video. To your question: is this brand of tea overpriced I would answer with another question: wasn't your presentation a tiny little bit overacted? :-) It was refreshing to see the action from the frontline of teapicking and tea producing! Loved it!!! Hats off to the 88-year old Chinese lady!!!

Great video, the tea might be good but at 3 times the price of Long Jing or Young Gushu, I would pick one of those instead (which I prefer in taste anyway)...

As a Chinese, I am very confused about the price system of Chinese tea. Everything is the result of the operation of the merchants, and I am very resistant to the overpriced tea. If you want to buy tea, don't believe that the higher the price, the better the quality. Follow your own mouth and follow your heart, that is the best.
