RIP Mel. After he passed away, Warner Bros. made a special tribute to him called "Speechless." It shows the major cartoon characters he voiced with their heads bowed facing a microphone with no one present. It's still hard to look at without feeling sad.

The very last project that Mr. Blanc did before he passed away was providing the voice of Mr. Spacely in "The Jetsons movie". Thanks for the memories, sir!!!! No one will ever be able to make Bugs Bunny sound as cool and respected as you did!

I used to watch looney toons all the time when I was a kid on VHS but I didn't know Mel blanc was the voice of the characters but when I found out that he was doing the voice of them All I had to say was thank you for all of the happiness that you brought to my life thank you so much Mel blanc Rest In Peace

I'm 59 years old and I make it a point to watch Looney Tunes every Saturday morning on MeTV. I'm an early riser anyway and it just brings back great memories of my youth. Plus I still find them funny after all these years. That's All Folks!

Noel Blanc sounds just like his dad. He totally inherited his old man’s 1000 voices. In my opinion Noel is as much of a legend as his dad was.

Hippie 78: the real King is Mr Rogers of Mister Rogers Neighborhood and he had voices too for the puppets of the neighborhood of make believe including his real voice which is very soothing and peaceful plus he's more popular then Mel Blanc and Looney Tunes. Now that's the real King

He really is a class act. Who knew that he can make so many different voices? He’s just so remarkable, one of the most unique people I’ve ever heard and seen. He was very considerate, always thought about others, never bragged or boasted, was never egotistical, had a wicked sense of humour, very versatile, he had all the nuances to really make a character stand out on its own. He just had that special something not many people have nowadays. I can just go on and on about how exceptional this man was. He’s special, incredible, kind, compassionate and funny. I didn't expect to see a couple of other top voice actors at the close of the video so be sure to watch the video all the way through. I enjoyed the clip...1980 is the year Mel began his association with the Heathcliff franchise. He became the voice of that character in 1980 and it became the last original character Mel provided vocals for.

Mel Blanc was the king while others like Daws Butler and Don Messick were princes but all 3 were gr8 and wonderful in cartoon voices. Sadly all are gone from among us but we have their great memories of their voice talent. We all grew up watching these cartoons, commercials, and few TV shows of all 3?

Wow this is lovely. Had no idea Bob hosted this show. Grew up seeing him in Price Is Right. Great post. They don’t make shows like this anymore too bad. @6:21 is really funny ❤️. Great that Mel was looking for someone who could take over for him. It’s 2021 and all these years post death NO one has come close.

I remember a gas station attendant or mechanic telling my dad he looked like Mel Blanc. I didn't know who that was but never forgot that moment. Now I am fascinated by him and he did look like my dad (almost exactly)!

Never met Mel, but was fortunate to meet Noel in the late 80s. We got to go to his house and hang out with him for the day. He had amazing cars! I Still have his business card that says: Noel Blanc, collecting Ferrari motor cars and antique pocket watches.

"It's gonna be tough to find somebody who can take over for your characters." Apparently, WB thought so as well, because they hired a whole cast list of voice actors to take over Mel Blanc. Not just his son Noel, but also Charlie Adler, Joe Alaskey, Dee Bradley Baker, Eric Bauza, Jeff Bennett, Bob Bergen, Jeff Bergman, Greg Burson, Jim Cummings, Chris Edgerly, Bill Farmer, Frank Gorshin, Maurice LaMarche, Gary Martin, Rob Paulsen, Keith Scott, Fred Tatasciore, Frank Welker, Billy West, the list will likely go on and on.

He wasn't the original, they stole the voice from Red Pepper Sam aka Billy Costello.

@@TheKitchenerLeslie They didn't steal it. Billy Costello became impossible to work with because he knew the character was popular. He started taking time off whenever he wanted and threatening to leave anyway if they didn't give him more money, which they couldn't so they had to let him go very early in the series. Jack Mercer was his replacement. Jack did the voice for forty years and did it a lot better. Costello was only there for the first two.

Jack Mercer (Popeye) looked like a professional businessman in the suit he wore. He and Nash (Donald Duck) both died in 1984, while Charles Dawson (Daws) Butler died in 1986. One of my favorite Butler-voiced cartoons was Little Televillain (Chilly Willy -1958). The scene Mr. Stoops's office was the best part.

He didn't "steal" his voice. That's like saying the voice actors that do Bugs Bunny today stole Mel Blanc's voice. If you've established a character sounding one way why would you change it just because the actor is different?
