Melbourne: 96 Tram Ride from CBD to Acland St at St. Kilda Beach🚋🏖【4k】

In this video, we point a GoPro out the right side of a 96 tram on a late afternoon ride from the CBD all the way down to Acland Street in St Kilda Beach. That's it!
Some key sights include sunset on the Esplanade (27:13), the infamous Gatwick Hotel (25:29), and Luna Park and the Palais Theatre (29:36).

Stayed in st kilda in 2006 and 2012 and love the place. Wish you had been on the other side of the tram to see Albert park and shops and restaurants as you turn right into st kilda. However loved the video which brought back happy memories.

2004-5 my first time, 2009-2010 the second one,; before in St Kilda (Coffee Palace Backpacker) then in Chapel Street (Prahran). Will ever be a day I forget this city? (I'm roman). No, it's not possible. I live only for coming back!!! I'll do it sooner o later!!!

the fare is for 1 way trip or round trip?

It works a bit differently in Australia. When you tap on, you pay a flat fare and have 2 hours to go where you want to go, within geographic limits. So you could take the 96 wherever you want, back and forth even, and pay the flat fare until the 2 hours are up.

do i need to tap on again everytime i change another tram? still it counted as flat rate? if i travel more than 2 hours how much is the fare? if im travelling from free zone to zone 2 (eg : collins st to brighton beach) should i tap on free tram zone or tap on when i leaving the free zone to zone 1?

@@prettysavage4 yes, you tap on every time you get on a tram. If you go beyond 2 hours they charge you the fare again, you’ll need to check the PTV website for exactly how much it costs, I think it was ~$4.

@@prettysavage4 if you were intending to leave the free tram zone, I’d tap on regardless to avoid getting out of your seat again. For trams, there is no zone 2 anymore.
