nah it fun tho, that's why you don't hear a big ban stadium movement. the thing is that it works well enough as a competitive stage, most of the time its just a long platform with a low ceiling with a unique platform layout, and yeah its a bit janky now and then, but its been proven by literally more than a decade that players feel that this isn't disruptive enough to warrant a ban. and btw I know it isn't your argument, but glitches and exploits are rooted in the very foundations of melee, which is defined by its loose ends. I mean whats the point of banning the yoyo glitch for example? not much its a pretty gimmicky tool. now im not saying that we shouldn't regulate certain glitches, yknow like the freeze glitch. this sort of thing has to be taken case by case. and at the end of the day, you are right, we really shouldn't be using a stage that is even capable of doing these things, let alone to happen commonly enough to literally impact tournament play. however, over the past decade and more the community has decided to keep it, people have decided that these issues you're talking about aren't common enough to warrant a ban, and the things it bring to the table are interesting enough for people to look past its flaws. frankly I could probably speak for a lot of people in saying that pro stadium ban players may be right, but it also kind of makes you a bit of a boring asshole. wobbling, that sucks, jiggs ledge camping, that sucks. but pit fights, awesome, weird samus tree shit, awesome, wall infinites, fuck yeah I wanna see axe jab ICs to 300, windmill, hype. so many iconic moments, I mean cmon

I think you didn't understand what he actually said.

It did hit, or at least the part that does the damage. The part of the hitbox that deals the knock-back did not connect properly. This happens when you get hit by one pixel of the hitbox or are barely touching the move. If you notice, Hbox was pretty close to not landing the hit at all. That is why it happened.

Such moves are referred to as “Phantom” meaning the damage is done, but the knock back is missing. In this case, Hbox did a “Phantom Rest”

Phantoms happen when hurt and hitbox are touching each other but arent connecting In melee phantoms do 1/2 dmg with no knockback and can happen on every move

Phantoms are in all smash games but due to a programming error they're more common in Melee. In newer smash games they refer to them as glancing blows in the loading screen tips

Phantom rests are rare but they still happen occasionally.

You don't necessarily lose a stock if you miss a Rest (as long as you don't have too much %), but you can take a good amount of damage from it.

Exploits are not true to the character/ game, it's an overlook in programming. Why I stand by the sentiment, if you can't even punish properly and you're literally exploiting the game to get wins, why should you get sympathy? They aren't even playing the character normally in the first place.

@@or3o043 It shouldn't even be the norm that a character should have an exploit that's an inescapable infinite, let alone classify said exploit as a "tool." It's so broken BOTH versions of the wobble have been banned in several torunaments, even though most Icie players still get left in pools cause their metagame doesn't involve anything other than putting everything into that exploit. Point in case, my comment was to express that the player relied on an exploit and still lost, so the sympathy from the commentator was nil. Seriously, it's more entertaining watching two Jigglypuffs backair battle for 5 minutes than watch a player grab, tap the A button over and over and the opponent can't escape. Edit: That's why I've got respect for Wobbles (player), to my knowledge he doesnt abuse that exploit and can still carry a match with Icies.
