I am sorry but Sookie, like most of the Stars Hollow residents, was a stock character. I hated that the only representation for fat girls was the “fat funny friend who loves food”. Her one note all through the first few seasons was how much she loved cooking… and that’s it. When they developed her character further she was still the fat funny friend, but now she had a relationship. She was never angry until she and Lorelai had a falling off, but even then that was in the last seasons and it lasted about two episodes. I wish she was as 3D as Lorelai was, as Rory was, as Luke was, as Jess and Logan were. Even Emily and Paris were better developed.

@@m780dff um… are you okay? This is just an opinion, which happens to be mine. It was never intended to be taken as fact, just like all other opinions, including those in this very public forum. There is no need to take offense at my particular point of view, which ultimately comes down to: I wish the writers had come up better storylines and character development for Sookie (and Lane, for that matter, whose development in the first few seasons was superb but whose fate was awful because it undermined every defiant aspect of her personality). @@marialara9823 it was that they saw how famous she had gotten after the show ended,(in comparison to everyone else on the show) and they “assumed” she would think she was too “above them” to either respond or accept the invite.

oh wow I never knew that!! I read somewhere that she too busy to have more scenes in the revival but who knows if that’s true. either way I wish she was in more of it 😕

@@kelsey_8843 yeah that’s not true… they were too chicken to call her. She said in an interview after it came out that she was sad she couldn’t have played a bigger part 🥺

Sadly, it was part of the culture itself back in the day. Earlier seasons of gilmore girls were homophobic as well at least within the jokes, thankfully everything changed the actors are icons now and the writers stated they didn't want it to be like that.

If that existed there would not have been the characters they hired on.

In the last episode of the revival, called 'Fall'.... It is in the last third of the of that episode. It is a magnificent scene; writing, acting...Melissa dove right back into Sookie seamlessly, but is was too quick.
