My dog joins me in the garden and walks all over my plants, too. Thank you for including that little bit of comedy. I'm doing very similar activities with my cold weather crops. I started my cabbage very early this year let it get good sized, and put it out mid-March under a frost cloth on cold nights. I'll be moving my salad crops out in the next week or so even though we aren't done with frosts for another couple weeks.

Hi Melissa. Thanks for sharing your thoughts in your recent podcast regarding how you feel compelled to put up more, and how this is becoming common in the homesteading community. I have felt compelled to do this since 2019, and I have learned a lot from your channel and the many other homesteading community channels on this platform on how to be more self-sufficient. Thanks for your time and knowledge! Rob

My chickens visit me in the garden! 😆 Unfortunately they think everything is planted for them! Honestly, I gotta put up some fencing to keep them out. They destroyed my garlic that was planted last fall. Hoping the farm stand has lots this year. I love how the pear tree "jumped in" your cart. Things happen to me that way too! 🤣🤔

Be careful with those early blooming fruit varieties too. I know of many people in the south who got those early bloomers and they got burned when they all bloomed and then were taken out by frost. At least in New England I would definitely go with the medium to late bloomers because you know......if frost hits those blooms, no fruit that year in that variety.

I'm chuckling ... This woman is a vast storehouse if self reliance information and that's something I can appreciate. Rid down, stores out of food, her family will be ok, at least much better than 90% of people who are dependent on corporations. Seriously, information used or not but learned and stored is gold. How you decide to use it is on you. Mind you her time not working a job isn't wasted watching soaps and game shows, her efforts provide in !multiple ways. Yes her hubby probably has a good paying job or business but she is not a dead weight stay home woman, she was raised by good people, a son taught to do a little work to pay for things he wants puts him ahead of city kids who gripe if asked to take out the garbage. Laughed when my mom asked who made better apple pie, her or my wife. I was stuck, I truly saw it as a draw. She had a grin ... She taught my wife to make pie, ha, ha, ha.

Good video. Nice cold frames...now to build them deeper so you can put manure in bottom, put top soil in and then do your seed starting in there. To be honest, not sure about the bales as they can also be rodent homes...I am assuming they will not be permanent fixtures. Had heard of those multi grafted fruit trees....will be interesting to hear how it does. Have heard of planting multiple trees of different varieties in the same hole as well....something to try perhaps. I have the same weakness with nurseries and so I try to avoid them..lol. Loved the comic relief the dog provided! LOL.

I have an patio burnt peach tree for decoration in the front flower bed. Last year I planted 2 fruit bearing peach trees about a half acre away. I noticed that the peaches on my decorative tree were different looking. I did not allow my fruit bearing peach trees give fruit last year cause I had just planted them. I am concerned that they will cross pollinate and if they do will it effect the edibility of the fruit trees. I was told the decorative tree had peaches that were poisonous. What are your thoughts?

I have NEVER successfully grown onions. Drives me crazy because we eat a lot of them. I've done sets and the past 2 years, starts, but nope. Something either digs them up or they just rot in the ground and I get maybe a dozen from 200 starts. All my garden beds are fenced. Stupid chickens fly over the fences.
