They have to learn to take intimidation and humiliation so they don't have a break down if they face an enemy. I have respect for all soldiers in the whole world who put themselves through rough training to serve their country. Just wish our leaders respected them enough to not use them and waste them needlessly.

To be honest US Navy basic is easier . Been there , done that . I served eight years sea duty in the surface fleet on two warships , and two years shore duty as an MP . BUD/S ( Basic Understand Demolition / SEAL School will wash out 90 percent of candidates every time . Even the 10 percent that graduate BUD/S will not go on to serve in The Teams for various reasons . Some are injured during training , some don't pass parachute training , some don't pass advanced diver qualification , some don't pass survival training , some don't pass demolitions training .

I'd say toughest initial intake is the Corps. But if you want the real hardcore training you want Special Forces or SERE.
@lbarmstrong1

Ah, but that training is NOT straight out of civilian life the way this is. This is the true process of breaking recruits of the bad habits and individual quirks of being a civilian and building them back up to part of something bigger than them. If you think it's hard for recruits, it's terribly hard on D.I.'s and their families (that's why they get them young). I was married to a Marine D.I. who was also a graduate of Army Special Forces school. The drill field was much harder on him than Ft. Bragg.

I'm lost on the gas chamber. When I went into the Army in the 70s, even we women went into the gas chamber. Running in place, we had to remove masks, repeat some line before we could get out the door. Are those masks now designed to fail? Or do they reach a saturation of some sort?
@rjhall6055
@rjhall6055 Жыл бұрын
You do exercises with the gas mask on to show they work. After, you have to break the seal and the DIs inside have to see your fingers on the lenses. Once they see that everyone has broken the seal, they will allow you to don and clear it before you can leave
@rhiahlMT
@rhiahlMT Жыл бұрын
@@rjhall6055 So the difference is between having to take the mask off and breaking a seal. Shame, if you dropped the mask, you had to go back in and get it. That was a fun experience for some.

For perspective's sake, the Marines are the ones who came up with the MK19 automatic launcher. And by launcher I mean HE grenades. Yeah, an automatic grenade launcher that can be mounted on a multitude of vehicles or just be deployed with a stand. They felt they needed something like that, and they were 100% correct lol.

I joined the Navy in the 70's and went to boot camp in San Diego. At that time the Navy actually trained with the Marines in boot camp. The reason they did that was because the Navy and the Marines were connected at the hip (and they still are) Back then they had you wear the masks into the room, released the gas and made you take you mask off lol. After 2 minutes they opened the door and everyone had to find their way out!

Black, white, brown, Asian...our diversity is what I respect the most. That is the only way you can truly learn to respect other countries.
