Grand Entry is always an impressive site to see and feel. All the different dance categories are present, southern and northern dancers, jingle dress, grass dancers, traditional, fancy dancers... Glad they appreciated the event.

love seeing other people frm different tribes, ethnicity(s), etc. Showing other(s) traditions Love. I love this video, once when i read the title of the vid i screamed bc i hardly see stuff like this and after seeing this video it warms my heart. I am Dine' representing the Navajo (Dine') Nation & i pray we don't lose our people & to keep learning frm them right now b4 its too late. I want to be able to speak my motherly tongue to carry my teachings with me into eternity.

Loved this. So many, many people - wonderful to see! I couldn't stop tapping my toes during the whole thing. 😁 I hope I can make it to a powwow before I die. I love the respect our friends show towards them, too. I have no Native American blood myself, but I respect the heck out of them for how they do their best to hold on to their culture.

When I was a girl, Chicago and the American Indian Center we're hosts to the largest Pow-Wow in the Midwest. Tribes from WI, MN, MI IL and other states would gather. It was held at Navy Pier. The Gathering of Nations was held in the Rotunda, overlooking the lake. It was wonderful! At the end, there was an unspoken invitation for the audience to join. Mind blowing!

@@grocker5382 Actually, it was in the 1960s through 1980s. The Native Americans still have a Pow-Wow annually, but it takes place in one of the Cook County Forest Preserves.

No stories...it was the announcer announcing which area these tribes are from. They wear their decorations based on their own spiritually led....meanings. Its a most enjoyable experience! Naveed is astute in his awareness. They do respect Mother Earth.

Our Indigenous peoples here, in NORTH America, have been here for some 9,000 years!!! Sadly, my peoples were darn near genocide, between 1600 & 1890. Millions of precious peoples! But, we are still here!!! Thankyou for watching!!!!!

The Albuquerque Pow Wow was the most spiritual experience of my life. It's an experience to be only a few (whites) among so many natives. It was overwhelming.

Definitely! Every year our family would bring in the New Year at a pow wow . At the end they had people with sage cedar and sweet grass to " cleanse " ourselves as we welcomed a new year . Being at one like these are definitely a blessing .

I am from Albuquerque and what they are watching is the Grand Entry which is usually at the beginning of the Pow Wow on each day. All the tribes from all over the world, come together, dancing into a tight spiral towards the center as the follow the Lead Chief and his Staff. More and more dancers enter the circle until all tribes have been represented. It is beautiful to watch the reactions of these Tribal People watching other Native Tribal People!

In some native cultures, it is a sign of high respect when people cover their eyes when the elders step on the dance floor, that way they will not take the energy the elders have in their spirit to pass on to every on there. The dances have spiritual significance and healing energy.

Only Native Americans are allowed some of the feathers they use as some come from endangered or protected species. They have special permission to use them.

Native Americans have sovereign land inside of America that others can't live on, etc. They only deal with the federal government not any state government as long as they're on their lands. I believe most are matriarchal rather than patriarchal. I've been to so many of these and love out every time. The elders of their communities have so much wisdom to share. I've been on medicine walks and listened to countless stories of history passed down orally for endless generations. I didn't realize there were that many individual tribes in America. Great video!

There were more than this.... But they have murdered and wiped out with disease from whites. It's a great show for non Natives. But they still struggle to this day. They are limited, have restrictions in everyday life. Americans have no clue They just think they a happy ppl that are still living the good life.... Putting on a show for whites. This goes way deeper.

My very first POWWOW was at a very young age. I saw so many different colorful outfits! So many different styles of dancing! The many different shades of skin tones, beautiful! Attending this event, even though I don't recall much, I do recall the most emotional and spiritual experiences that made me the individual I am today! Thanks so much!

I love Powwow's. We tend to be a little private about our beliefs, they can vary from one to another. However, the essence of the spiritual thought process is there. We enter moving left when we begin the dance and a traditionalist knows to begin dancing on the left foot and why. One way to explain would be to say everything we can put a word to belongs on the right. Everything we know is there but can't put a word to is on the left. We use the left to commune with the Creator through dance, drums, and intent. We align with the Energy of the natural world to enhance the "health" of our energy and give back to the natural world the same. This is a connection that is so deep no word can describe.

I always enjoy seeing the Klamath and Modoc Tribes in traditional regalia dancing, drumming and singing at Pow Wow Chiloquin where I live in Southwest Oregon. Indian Taco Time.

Anyone that can if especially you like jazz music as I do it is quite an experience to visit Louisiana's mardi Gras . Their food is so Yummy also .I think the Mardi Gras is held in January and February . Quote me if I'm wrong .

In my town there is a boy and girl scout troop, called the Kawahdi Indian Dancers. They have obtained special permission to dress up in Native indian costumes and hold ceremonies. Each person has to make there own costume.

My fathers family is Native American. Only natives can legally have those feathers, it’s illegal for most Americans to take eagle feathers. They can have them as it’s a religious symbol. Their feathers are always so pretty to look at during a pow wow. Great video!

Can non Native Americans come to the event to watch? I am from Africa and have lived half my life there and am now in Europe, I would one day hope to come to visit america, but I would rather pay a ticket to come and see a native american event and see the country side than just go to visit a random city, a concrete block is a concrete block..we have those all over the world, interacting with native peoples and seeing the natural countryside is more appealing to me.

As an American and knowing the histories and interactions/feuds-fighting between all thses differnt nations/tribes, as well as between the "white" man and their arrogance and greed for their lands, as well as lack of understanding and respect for their culture and traditions grieves me greatly. However, the flip side is to see how all of us different/diverse peoples now live peacefully and respectfully (for the most part) together, and celebrate those differences. All of that warms my heart and makes me smile.

Our indigenous people? We belong to no man or pawns of the governments in canada and usa! We still honor the treaties! Powwow was once banned as well as our ceremonies and languages! All are welcome! Come and learn why our songs are holy and our teachers! Always remember that our powwows are where racism dies and love prevails!

I love this. But why are they having this happening inside of a facility and not in nature somewhere ? It would be more empowering to see this happening outside with lights and fire in the dark...or day. Just wondering... For me personaly i dont belong to any tribe or race, i wanted to be free of that and become just a human. Sometimes it gets lonely yes. So sometimes i watch these videos and feel warm inside watching people conect with each other. Beautiful. Respect and love to all.
