Did you know that the very first discotheque in the USA opened in Reseda in 1975? It was called the "Silver Fox". It was on Canby, just north of Reseda and Sherman Way. My cousin did the logo for it, and gave me a copy of it, and told me the history of it. This same cousin of mine did the original logo for Magic Mountain, as well. Regarding murals, there are a lot of them in the Valley painted by painted by Fred Flores. His Calif plate was: MURALS.

HAHA! Seriously, your stuff is awesome and I'm looking forward to checking out more of it. Super informative and also great to have the information about your first hand experiences. You and Kurt together have the world of vintage LA cornered! Really interesting and enjoyable for someone fascinated with that era/area but with no direct experience.

That Sherman Oaks Castle reminds me of a place called Castle Park that was in Aiea, Hawaii until around the end of the 1980s or early 1990s. Their two story castle also had an arcade inside with miniature golf, bumper boats, go-carts, and other amusements around it. I expected the guy to point out how that Reseda Country Club building was used as the Hott Traxx and Rodriguez Brothers dance club in "Boogie Nights."

Another excellent video Kurt; I love watching your SFV VLOG's among your other fascinating VLOG's. I myself am 45 years old and grew up in Huntington Beach. My mom on the other hand grew up in Rededa and in Woodland Hills. During my youth, I spent a lot of time at my grandparents house off of Topanga and Oxnard. Many of the sites you have covered, I too have been to and I find that extremely exciting. I found it fascinating that the city of LA owns Malibu Castle. I have been there a handful of times and it only gets better with age. I was extremely bummed when Malibu Grand Prix went out of business. Driving those cars was the absolute highlight of my youth. There was a Malibu Grand Prix in Fountain Valley close to where I lived off of the 405 and Magnolia that shut down back in 1985 or 1986. As far as I know, the Northridge MGP location was the last one standing and I was only there once. I'm still in shock that it's now a car dealership. I find it very frustrating that the places we frequented during our youth are being torn down to put up overpriced apartments or outdoor malls. Sign of the times? I'm calling it what it is!!!!! At least the Reseda pool is still in existence. My grandparents would take me there on those hot summer SFV days to cool off;. I remember those days like they were yesterday. Your VLOG's are absolutely epic. Please keep them coming. By the way, I think you should do a meet and greet BBQ potluck with your local followers at some point at Reseda Park. I think some of your followers abroad would make it too. I would definitely be there. Thanks for everything my friend.

Fantastic knowledge and presentation, LA in a minute. BTW, a forgotten fact in the early history of the Galleria was that in 1981 there was a mid air collision of two planes in their approach to Van Nuys Airport, and one of them crash landed on the roof of the May Co. there, with the other plane damaged but able to land safely at Van Nuys. I believe the pilot of the plane that crashed lost his life. Didn’t dampen the spirits of the mall goers, though! 😅

I really appreciate seeing these memories videos because in the 80's i was living in completely opposite circumstances. When i was a kid i used to dream about living in California but my reality was on the other side of the world in Sweden living in a small village of 22 people and freezing my bum off most of the year because we had snow 6-7 months out of the year.

I love these videos. I used to live on Laurel Canyon in North Hollywood. I think it’s called Valley Glen where we used to live now but that was my first apartment back in 1984. I got a job at UCLA medical center and that was my first apartment with a roommate After we got married, our first house was in Reseda with my sis in-law and we lived two blocks from that rollerskating rink. My husband is Thai so we always went to North Hollywood to shop at the Thai markets there. In 92 we bought our own house. I had no idea the history of that rollerskating rink. Fascinating. 🥰🙏🏻

We'd go to the Sherman Oaks Galleria and try to run in to Molly Ringwald. The Sherman Oaks Galleria - like, and especially, The Beverly Center - was like the movie , "Brazil," on the inside. Everything was neon. Fast Future In Extreme. Haven't set foot on that ground since the original Galleria was demolished, and never will. Amazing and incredible history on the Sherman Oaks Galleria.

This was fun. I lived a stone's throw from ALL those locations at one point in time or another. I lived at Laurel Cyn/Riverside, then Vanowen/Reseda, then off of Sepulveda between Sherman Way & Saticoy, then just a couple of blocks from the big intersection of Lankershim, Vineland & Riverside for 17+ years, over to Cahuenga & Oxnard, & finally on Archwood/Radford where the North Hollywood Shootout ended before moving back to my hometown of San Pedro. Lotta good memories of the Valley. Last time I was in the Valley, I was sad to see that Tokyo Delves on Lankershim in Noho was gone! I think Ernie's Tacos right up the street is still there, though, if any if the girls working at Star Garden are retiring & wanna have a farewell party! ✌🏼
