Thank you so much for making this! I'm a sophomore in high school and I decided to take AP European history this year. I love history, but because this is a college level class it often flusters me. This probably took two hours off my studying tonight because I have a test on all these countries tomorrow. I must get 100% on it, and with your help there is no doubt in my mind.

this is literally me rn. My first day of sophomore year was today and my ap euro teacher told us that on Friday were going to have a quiz on where every single country in Europe is. We don't need to memorize the names or spellings, just the locations of each. I suck at memorization and at geography so this video really helped a lot.

At the age of 55, I've learned the countries of Europe for the first time in my life! I found this when trying to help my 13 year old. When I was 13, I scored zero on a quiz mapping out European countries, and I unknowingly held the map sideways. Now I score 100% when I do an online quiz. All thanks to this video. I wish you had content on your studyskills channel listed above, but it is blank :-(

I thought about it for a second and at first I thought he was doing the EU which would exclude some micro-nations... but some other countries do not belong to the union so I dismissed it, it would make more sense to say he is naming all countries that make up Europe... which would again exclude said microstates and conceivably Turkey ( and most likely a mention that Russia is only slightly included). But my best answer was that he is telling us everything we would have to fill in on a map of Europe... this would include countries outside of the continent and because they are so small ( invisible on a map of that scale) he would not have included the concerned countries.

This is great, well thought out and fun too. Just one extra point - I think you said the UK does NOT include Northern Ireland, which is not true - however it does not include SOUTHERN Ireland (or EIRE), so possibly just a small slip there. Even so, thank you for sharing, I learnt a lot.

I had a major final on the countries of the world and if it weren't for you I would not have passed, I came later on in the year so I had to learn everything from scratch. I got 97% on the test. +Donna McCarthy If you're hungary, you'll be russian to the fridge. You grab the turkey, but it's covered with two much greece, and there's norway you can eat that. So you go to eat a canada chile, but that belongs to someone else, and you protest "Denmark your name on it!" and they finally do. In the end, you're still hungary and you don't get any food. too bad for you. (and i promise u i know that canada and chile aren't in europe but I had to)

It is a wonderful experience learning from your videos. I have been seeing them for quite some time now and I really feel that this is one of the best ways of learning any subject not only geography. I would request you to make a video on world capital cities if possible really fast because I need it desperately and I think that you are the best resource available out there to get tricks from. Great idea which I will share with my students; however, Northern Ireland is in fact part of the UK and Southern is not. You may wish to change this to avoid confusion.

They are all micro-nations, technically not countries, but you can classify them as one. Not sure about Liechtenstein though, I am pretty sure that's a country

No, Liechtenstein, San marino, Andorra, Monaco.... and others are real souvereign countries, the are just very very little :) Don't confuse microstate (who are recognize by the others countries) and micronation (who claims to be an independent nation or state but is not officially recognized) => go check on wikipedia

I learned this way and had them all 100% including capitals very quickly. Almost magic. However, after moving into other subjects and leaving geography for awhile I found it hard to come back and remember my Mnemonics fueled study sesh. Easy to relearn just difficult to retain. Hello, I just want to say this: for the past 4-5 years (I don't remember exactly) I had to memorize the countries of Europe 3 times a year (one time as first test geography of the year, and the other two for the semester exams in geography). Every time I came back to this video, and I feel a bit nostalgic because tomorrow I'm taking my last geography exam ever! I will have to let you go, but I am happy for all the wisdom you gave me through these bad puns and helpful tricks (slocrobama never left my mind). Thank you, and for all the students here who are struggling, one day you'll look back at this video and be forever greatful for what this man did.

Thanks for these videos! My suggestion (if it's possible) would be to highlight each country when you identify it by making the outline of each country thicker, or coloring them in completely. Then you wouldn't need to change the pointer... just make them stand out more somehow when you identify them. MORE PLEASE! Also, do you have any recommendations for other KZfaq videos that make learning geography easy? Thanks!

I have none problem with geography, no matter if Europe or any different place on the planet is concerned. That's perhaps just bnecause I've started collecting postcards and stamps from my early childhood onm. II have visited 23 countries bny know.- Europe, North America and Africa Although I've mever been to Belarus by today I am abnsolutely certain that "Bela-Rus" doesnm't mean " Beautiful Russia". Russian, Belorussian, also Bulgarian Polish, Slovakian, Chech, Serbian, Slovenian, Makedonian and some other languages in Eastern and Southeast Europe are Slavic /Slavonic lgroup of languages. The Slavonic word " belo"" means "WHITE". So "Belorus " stands for "White Russia". That has nothing to do with masses of snow or so. As even Greenland has nothing to do with huge woodlamds, forests, meadows.. That was more typical to describne Ireland :-) Best regards from Germany, mate. +Rainer Jahn the belarus part was just a way to remember. it does not necessiraly have to be 100% correct and the part about iceland and greenland too was most probably a story he made up as i have never heard it before and i read a lot of books(not just story books and novels)

Спасибо за видео, я прошла тест на 40% и решила подучить вспомнить школьный курс географии с помощью мнемонических приемов, было весело следить за нитью вашей истории, можно аббревиатуру увидеть для Македонии и другие аббревиатуры из видео? Понравилось сравнение про Питер Пена и Венди, история про Исландию и Гренландию, мне как неносителю ангйлиского сложно цепляться за созвучие слов, чтобы дорисовать значение, но многие приемы понятны и яркие )

This really helped me study. If you keep watching the video a couple of times there is a good chance you wont fail. The mnemonics he used were really clever. I know these are made for high school students. But, I am only in 6th grade so I don't know any of those elements or medicines. But this was great I really enjoyed watching it and al your geography videos. They help me a lot. :)

Poor Malta, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Andorra, St Marino and Vatican City.... According to the video, they are not classified as countries no more, when Green land which is not even a country (belongs to Denmark) is now in Europe when it should be in North America :c ( yeah I know some of those countries can also be seen as city states....but still) Anyways good job tho :D !

I can do pretty good with Europe, just that the part that I have trouble with are the countries that Yugoslavia broke up into back then as well as the three north countries, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.

+stevan ljustinic actually he didn't forget them, and the " Vatican" city isn't a state, nor is san marino. And yes he could have made a rhyme for serbia, but instead you should know that because its the only one he didn't make a rhyme for, not trying to mean

Thank you so much! In just one day, you've gotten me to memorize all major countries in the Americas and Europe! Just some clarifications I thought I'd add, though: - Northern Ireland _is_ part of the UK, though Ireland itself isn't. - Greenland and Iceland were named such because Iceland had freezing winters and Greenland needed to attract more settlers, despite its tundra conditions. This video also taught me about lithium use in bipolarity treatment and laxatives and kidney stones, though, so this did more than just teach me about countries! Thanks again for this series of videos, they're so helpful!

Practice your geography with the LizardPoint geography quizzes. There's interactive quizzes with lots of help, on Europe, Africa, Asia, etc. And it includes all the little countries like Liechtenstein, Andorra, San Marino, Malta, etc.
